I just wasnt sure why Rukia would transfer her powers soo easily to someone she doesn't know if she knew she'd be mortal or somethin -- kinda a careless act-- which is why I was so confused after the eppy ended. But if she still has powers and all
Im willing to accept that scene now.

Althou another thing baffles me about the whole scene.. if she's a soul reaper why was she bleeding? o_O Does tha mean she can die so essentially she's just a human w/ some supernatural powers like Ichigo?

Its funny.. Ive watched Lain, Boogiepop, Evangelion and FLCL and never had a single doubt or question as to what I was watching.

I sit down and see 1 episode of Bleach

and am totally stumped and have a zillion questions!

To put it fairly simply so I'm not giving too much stuff away:

Yeah...Rukia can get hurt and die if she's hurt badly enough. If she couldn't get hurt then the stuff that happens in the upcoming episodes would have a lot less meaning to them. She wouldn't ever have to worry about getting hurt.

I've seen up to episode 41, but I still don't know her exact origins. I mean I know her background when she was younger, but how she came into existence I knoweth not. I'm wondering that myself.

As far as picking between the mortal w/powers and ghost w/privileges, I'd say she's somewhere in the middle. I can't say she's either of the two.

Simple. She's a shinigami.

Possible spoiler origins:

Basically, she died when she was really young and her soul went to Soul Society where she grew up and became a shinigami. (Attended Shinigami Academy and everything.) Seriously. It's as simple as that. Also, there are a lot of spirits in soul society, but not every spirit is a shinigami.

And, yes, shinigami can be killed. Remember that hollows eat souls and that's basically what a shinigami is (albeit a souped up one

). They can be killed in other ways too - not just by hollows.

The item provided by our favorite shopkeeper is called a 'gigai', and kisara's right - it provides shinigami with a temporary human body while they're on earth.

Well, if there weren't Ranma to keep me in check, I'd be completely consumed!

I'm now into the third season of rewatching Ranma, and I LOVE Ranma! And I hear myself and think: I'm Kuno! OMG! "Usagi no onna! Tendo Akane!" except it's "Kurosaki Ichigo! Saotome Ranma!"

Heh, I could dress up like Kuno and carry around a picture of Ichigo and a picture of Ranma for cosplay!

lol I'm like Marie, I NEED to know what's going to happen! I've read the managa all te way up to the end of this arce and MV's right. . . crazyness abounds! Lots and lots of twists! I love it!

So how tall is Rukia?

I think someone said she's officially listed at 4 feet 10 inches tall.

Her height makes it easier to pat her on the top of her head. But I know she wouldn't be happy if you tried it.

I've enjoyed listening to the way Rukia talks in the anime especially when she tried talking "normally" that one time just to be different.

She's 144 cm tall which equals a little over 4'6".
