Best opening credits:

Fushigi Yuugi
Weiss Kreuz
Trigun

Why? Because I own an opening credit cel of all of these shows. :P But the reason I do is because I love the opening credits so much.

Best ending credits:

Vision of Escaflowne

Why? Because I really want that Van cel. You know the one. He will make my gallery one day. :evil2

I love Yu Yu Hakusho opening song but the second version's Visuals

All of Inuyasha's openings except the final season's song "Angelus" That one is :?

Escaflowne is beautiful

Mermaid's Forest

Outlaw Star

so far i like Bleach the best. great tune and good visuals
there are also a couple Naruto ops that are good aswell.

as for closing, id go with the first naruto... i was sad the day they changed
that one.

Ive always liked ABe's openings
(lain, haibane, texhnolyze) all except niea that was a just eh? :sleep3
I like noir and hack//signs open :wink:
as well as cowboy bebop but i do prefer the ending a bit more. :^^:
Excel saga was cute too.
Others are mediocre, i too dont think ive ever seen a truly bad one.
Well, maybe pokemon was bad, i really dont want to catch any of them. :P

Just like Rayd says, I'd certianly go with Lain and Haibane Renmei. I used to watch half the series in one go but never felt the need to wind past these intros, it was good every time.

Other intros I enjoy include:
The Hakkenden This is THE best intro ever filmed. Stunning music (which I storyboarded a live-action music vid to) and some nice sweeping camera shots which is hard to do with animation.
Cyber city OEDO The US versions' instrumental music is stunning

If you want to hear the intro music to Hakkenden, I have upoaded an MP3 here [1.1mb] http://www.bbakira.co.uk/linkpics/CD/HAKKENDEN.mp3 It's a little crackly because I got it from an old CD that's now seen better days but you'll get the idea. Just imagine a lot of panning still shots, stereotypical samurai images of cherry blossom etc...

and behold;
things did get worse...

There are lots of OPs that I like, most for their music, here are a few in no particular order:

Samurai Champloo (obviously)
Cowboy Bebop (obviously)
Excel Sage (Im suprised no one mentioned this before)
Hellsing (great song, great animation sequence)
R.O.D. and R.O.D. the TV

and loads of other really

Worst... well I would have to say Wolfs Rain... I hated the song.. really a lot...

I have to say I LOOOOOVE the "song of truth" closing for IY. It's sooo sweet! I'm such a cheese, I get all misty-eyed!

I just thought of another opening song I really like:

the opener for Beck

I had to edit the subtitles for it one time. The anime to me is mediocre, but the opening song has been stuck in my head for days. After that one session. Must go download it.
