Sex Friend was fansubbed shortly before it got picked up for R1. I kept hoping someone would fansub Suika since there were non-adult versions of that anime released. Wouldn't you know it...one group started fansubbing it ten months later, but it was after it had already gotten picked up for R1.
Yeah I kind of liked Sex Friend too. I liked the main girls scratchy voice and I liked that locker scene.
Here are adult anime that I mostly liked that didn't have forced sex in them (that I recall). Your opinions will vary from mine, but I liked most of these anime:
1. Doukyuusei (i.e. Classmates/End of Summer)(9.6) - The VHS English version is out of print. We've been waiting for the R1 DVDs to come out for this for a very long time.
2. Kakyuusei Elf version OVA (9.4) - Ow!! Ow!! Stop hitting me Darksuzaku!! Okay this doesn't really belong here since the R2 DVDs no longer have an adult version of this anime. But originally it had a very short two minute H-scene at the very end of the last episode.
3. Koihime (9.0) - I mentioned this one earlier. Guy returns to his home village after being away for years and finds that he can't remember four of the female childhood friends he knew as a kid. Turns out that the village has some supernatural things about it.
4. Doukyuusei Climax Files (8.8 ) - The two episode sequel to Doukyuusei. Worth it by itself just to hear Maison Ikkoku's Godai seiyuu yelling out "Kyoko-san Suki ja!!!" just like he in the MI anime. I swear...someone that produced this anime must have been a Maison Ikkoku fan.
5. Tenkousei (8.6) - I'm a sucker for Osananajimi (Childhood Friend) stories and this is one of them. The black and white flashbacks of the two main characters when they were kids I thought was pretty cute.
6. Suika OVA 2 (English title - "Wet Summer Days")(8.5) - I really liked this story about Itsuki and her twin sister. I bought the DVD, but I still haven't watched it yet. This episode probably had the most satisfying placement of an H-scene of any anime that I can remember. It was very well done. Well I do have a fondness for Mikos eh.
7. Suika OVA 3 (English title - "Wet Summer Days")(8.4) - I liked the story for this and I liked the atmosphere that it created involving the mysterious girl. I originally watched the non-adult version of this episode and it's just as well because it really didn't need an H-scene in there with someone that looks so young.
8. Campus (8.3) - This one had a rather unique love triangle in it. I have no idea why the English DVD releaser decided to put spoilers in the description of the story on the back of the R1 DVD. It was better watching it without knowing the spoiler. NOT an anime to watch if you hate step-sister relationships.
9. ONE ~ True Stories OVA (i.e. the One second OVA. The first ONE OVA was non-adult)(7.0) - This was three episodes long I believe. I liked the story of this guy doomed to never return to regular reality until one of the girls can remember him and he of them. This anime was told from the main guys percpective unlike the "no ones perspective" given to the first incomprehensible ONE OVA.
10. Doukyuusei 2 (6.3) - The original game had FIFTEEN girls in it. It was impossible to give all the girls a good role in this anime even though it was twelve episodes long. The main thing I didn't like about it though was that sometimes it got a little too silly. The hentai photographer guy getting beat up all the time was a running joke that got old after awhile. The animation quality though was pretty decent considering the anime came out in ?1995-1996.
11. Maids in Dream (5.8 ) - This is one of those anime that you either liked the art style or you don't. I'm in the "Like It" camp.
12. Mizuiro First OVA (2002)(5.6) - This was a semi-fantasy, shounen romance anime that was a tad like one of Kanon's stories. I prefer the non-adult Mizuiro Second OVA (2003) to this one though because it had better artwork and I could have done without the H-scenes in the first OVA.
13. Pia Carrot 2 (5.5) -
14. Angels in the Court (5.5) - I found this to be pretty funny. It's about a coach of a girls volleyball team.
15. Mune Kyun Heartful Cafe (5.5) - Romance story with rather loli character designs.
16. Spaceship Agga Rutter (?5.5) - Only seen the first three episodes of this so I can't vouch for the last episode. It was kind of funny sometimes. It was done by the Tenchi Muyo character designer.
17. Countdown Akira (5.5) - The artwork is nice....what there is of it. They use a LOT of stills. Only the H-scenes are animated. This isn't an anime for everyone though since the guy has a rather weird relationship with his sister.
18. Sex Friend (5.5) - Already mentioned.
19. Dousoukai Again (Class Reunion Again)(?5.5) - I liked the first episode about two characters getting together after their high school reunion. I still hate Ayu though so I never watched the second episode.
20. Futari Ecchi (Futari H)(5.4) - I've only seen the first OVA and not the second, but it's about a newly married (arranged marriage) couple leaning to deal with one another in bed. Pretty humorous. The H-scenes were intentionally non-explicit.
21. Canvas (5.3) - Only had two small H-scenes in them. I thought it was alright.
22. Tales of Titillation (5.3) - Two of the shorts were good. The rest...not so good.
23. Karakuri Ninja Girl (5.3) - Comedy about a ninja girl and her ninja boyfriend.
24. Dousoukai ~ Yesterday Once More (Class Reunion ~ Yesterday Once More)(5.2): I thought it was okay. I liked Mizuho and hate Ayu because of her backstabbing ways. I really hated the ending so I can't seriously recommend this.
The summer festival episode was kind of nice though.
25. Pia Carrot 1 (5.0) - I've never been that much into Pia Carrot 1. I'm not much into the characters.
