I’d include that D & D sadomasochistic fest:
BERSERK :ewhip:

I’d also list long running, Lupin III and City Hunter… 8)

And what about the big Miyazaki titles, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Laputa etc.? :D

I think Patlabor was popular at one time. /ok

I thought about Berserk too, but I don't know if it was popular.

When I think of shows that I heard of, or liked, I wonder if they were actually popular or if it was just my friends.
Then I try to think about shows that I've seen people cosplay from, with the idea that those shows must be popular if people dressed up as the characters. But, then if it's only a few people then I don't know if they are Really Popular or not.

So I decided not to say anything, as every thing I thought of was already on the list. Except the things I'm not sure of...

Prince of Tennis (I don't think the anime really got popular here due to the maltreatment by Viz, but it had a good start at first and the manga is pretty big)

Ouran High School Host Club (if it's not really popular yet, it will be. Go Funi!)

Bubblegum Crisis (Original)
Ghost In The Shell

My favourite 2 OVA's
Kite
Mezzo Forte

Seems like most people I talk to, who watch anime have at least heard of these. :)

I agree with most of what you have on the list.

I thought MAR & Law of Ueki was popular because they were on CN (MAR was on CN, right?)

Outlaw Star, Trinity Blood and I know that Nana are real hits.

A lot of robots are like that.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Hello Kitty, Yamato / Star Blazers, Captain Harlock, Gatchaman / G-Force / Eagle Riders, Speed Racer, and Voltron.

If you’re listing Hentai, I think Urotsukidoji is still one of the most infamous.

I never knew what this was, but then two of the guys I work with (ages 41 and 42) started talking about watching the show as a kid. They couldn't remember the name so I started researching the things that they did remember, and sure enough, they watched anime too.

Kata,
I'm curious now. What is the purpose to the list?

Is there something that you are going to use it for? Or were you just curious too?

Curious what people thought of what's popular. Not just in the USA, but also in other countries as in overall what is and was popular at one time and still is.
Different people have different tastes. Plus of what people believe what is popular. It's not the same for all and some added some that I had no idea that they are popluar. For instance, RX had grendizer and mazinger. I didn't know those two were popular. Which is nice to see!

Also it gives me an idea of what i haven't watched yet. ^_~ I seen a lot of anime but some of the ones listed I haven't seen. Even though there are only few of them, but it gives me an idea of what I should watch to see how they are. ^_^
