I disagree. Almost anyone who has read X/1999 or FMA can tell you, what happens in the manga is different from what happens in the anime. There are entire characters and plots left out of FMA. I only just started to get into that manga simply because the anime turned me on to it. And when I found out there was more info in the manga, well, I'm sold at that point.

Besides, you hadn't read the manga prior to watching FMA.

Can you tell I'm one of those people who go out of my way not to get spoilers? I remember collective telling me all about episode 25 when I was at episode 18. He couldn't recall which episode it was since he'd done a marathon but he knew the key story. Each episode after that, I completed dreaded watching until I arrived to that point.

I also disagree. For most of the anime I've watched I got into the anime before ever looking at the manga but then again I don't read a lot of manga.

What? you thought he was a girl? I admit he does wear some eccentric clothing and he dresses like a girl and has long hair but

he's very flat chested.

I think at the end Dante says that Hohenheim tried to revive their son who then became Envy

That's why I don't think they ever showed Envy in his true form.

Actually....

Even though Envy said he couldn't remember what he originally looked like, he was lying because he hated that he looked like Hohenheim. In the end, Envy does show is true form, he looks like Al & Ed Dad (Hohenheim), but younger...cute actually ^_^. Remember, that was how he distracted Ed and stabs him. Also when he went through the gate, he changed into his true appearance once again right before turning into the dragon thing.

Also, they aren't really half brothers. Envy was the first Homunculus that Hohenheim created. He was trying to resurrect his child that died of mercury poisoning.

To answer that question...

Al had lost all of his memories of what happened after the day he tried to transmute is mother was what Hawkeye said, but he does remember his brother, just not the hardship that they both went through those 4 years was what his Sensei said to Pinako. Also Al asked to learn alchemy from his sensei because he said he wanted to meet his brother again.

lol yes, I did just read ALL of those spoliers! And sooo glad I did!

The idea of Al remembering Ed, even if he did lose a few years, is sooo much more tolerable than the idea of him forgetting him altogether. Which is what I thought had happened.

And gaara, I don't read manga, hence duo's response. I was really just typing aloud to myself. lol Trying to make myself feel better for having read all the spoilers.

I do remember the part that you are talking about at the end where Envy startles Ed by changing his form to Hohenheim (at least that's what I thought was going on because Envy can change his body to look like everyone so I thought it was just an act)

I don't remember the tranfromation at the end before the flying dragon I'll have to watch it again

And about the half brother thing

Dante said in one of the last episodes that Envy was the son of Hohenheim and herself and Ed and Al also were produced by Trisha and Hohenheim hence making them half brother because they share a common brother!

or at least I think so.
