Well, it only took two tries and a trip to the manga, but I finally really like BLEACH. I had a lot of help from a few captains that I finally got to know, like Zaraki, Soi Fong, Komamura and Hitsugaya. I've come to like Renji a lot as well.

Still don't care for Rukia and Ichigo all that much, but maybe that will change depending on how this new manga arc plays out. It has already made me like Ichigo a bit more..

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to seeing a certain fight animated in 56... :D

I'm also cleaning my monitor off from the spit. Thanks kymaera, that was hilarious.
Does Yamamoto remind anyone else of Master Roshi? The nuances are uncanny.

You are not alone. I've read a number of other people that thought the same thing. :D

Keropi wrote:We need someone that knows Japanese to check out Bleach Society's sub to see if they added things that were not even there. I can recall about three or four places in episode 51 where Bleach Society had a plot point in their translation that was missing in DB's.

Someone know who's right here?

 :jump
If you're still wondering, I'd say that they do add stuff, and that's just the little stuff that even I can understand with my limited Japanese. I've only seen a couple of their translations, but they ones I did see where pumped out too fast.

strength spelled "strenght"

wrong verb tenses--e.g. "you tries"

"Fourth Squad of Unohana" rather than "Unohana of Fourth Squad" (the character speaking really did say "Unohana of Fourth Squad"--that's one of the things I can actually understand without any help :D )

Most of those mistakes could have been fixed by simply copy and pasting the script into Word or something like Word. :shrug

Some examples of where they added stuff:

Ex. 1

Komomura: Matte.

Translation: Wait.

BS transaltion: Wait. You don't have to get up. (Something like this, anyway)

Ex. 2

Tousen: *uncomprehensible grunt*

Translation: Most grunts in Japanese are ways of showing agreement, speech fillers, or sometimes disagreement (usually only used this way by men or "tough" girls). Given the circumstances, I would say that it was disagreement.
It was when Tousen (blind dude) was fighting Zaraki
BS Translation: Something about justice that flash across the screne too quick to read--it was at least 7 words long.

I would say that they are adding things that are implied--either by the visual circumstances, or by what will happen later on in the story.
For example, if episode 51 did not really have the dialogue about Tousen being blind, it didn't matter as he made that fact quite clear in episode 53-54. Actually, it seemed like episode 53-54 was the best place to reveal that.

I want to see Someone actually fight?

I know all the powering up is great and everything. But... besides being SuperSaiyen... I'd like to see Yoruichi, Ichigo, Or even Hanatarou Kick some butt...

Thanks klet! I had heard as much. I switched to DB for episode 56 anyway and I think I'll go with them in the future. I prefer "accuracy" to "sounding good".

My friend stumbled on Bleach manga spoilers and he was dying to tell me them yesterday. So now that I'm spoiled I feel less desire to watch the show. :( It's the first time since the "teen" episodes that I didn't watch a Bleach episode on Tuesday. :?

Since Bleach has such a large amount of plot, suspense and anticipation, it's very bad knowing what will happen in the future because it really spoils everything. X| At least for me it does. I know some people can eagerly anticipate suspense stories even when they know exactly what will happen already, but I'm not one of them.

The stories I watch even knowing what will happen are romance stories. I can enjoy those a lot even when someone tells me how they end. If I already knew what would happen at the end of Evangelion, Utena or Escaflowne before starting to watch them they wouldn't have been half as enjoyable to watch. :(

I really don't think Bleach would have an ending like Eva, Esca, or Utena...

But anyways... I knew the ending for Eva and I still liked it. It was just too cool.

My favorite part of 57:
The two goobers fighting over who has to pay/fetch the next bottle of sake.

I'm up-to-date in the manga, so I know what you're saying, Keropi. I still get excited to see it in action though, and the anime seems to add a bit to the story as well (eps. 57, for example...). Man, I can't wait for these next couple of weeks with Ichigo vs. Byakuya! :D

Which is why I avoid reading the manga past the point where the anime is. But my sister (whom I got hooked on Bleach :P ) loves spoilers, and so she has read a lot of stuff past the current anime story. Sunday afternoon trips to my parents' house often involve Bleach discussions.

Me: Something fangirlish about Bleach
Nee-chan: "Ooh! T---"
Me: "Shut-up, shut-up, SHUT-UP!!!!"

But I'll admit that I'm happy that she told me that my fav character will eventually get a lot more screen time. I'm firing up the screen cap program now.

8O WHOA. I didn't realize that BS added their own little nuances to the translations. I did notice the spelling and grammar issues, but as I preferred their translations over Lunar's I didn't think much of it. But if DB has the better translations, I'll check them out. That's weird though that they're more accurate when they pump out releases so much faster than the average bear!!!

Only really one thing for me to say about 56 & 57.

Soi Fong <3

I'm done now. :)

I agree, there are plenty of subtle differences that can make following both worth it. The recent anime story line, for instance (56/57)...the manga flows a little better for me, a bit less verbose & I got a better sense of fast action. The anime omitted a little bit from the manga, but added even more in new scenes, and it's in motion and pretty colors, of course.
