Someone know who's right here?

If you're still wondering, I'd say that they do add stuff, and that's just the little stuff that even I can understand with my limited Japanese. I've only seen a couple of their translations, but they ones I did see where pumped out too fast.
strength spelled "strenght"
wrong verb tenses--e.g. "you tries"
"Fourth Squad of Unohana" rather than "Unohana of Fourth Squad" (the character speaking really did say "Unohana of Fourth Squad"--that's one of the things I can actually understand without any help

)
Most of those mistakes could have been fixed by simply copy and pasting the script into Word or something like Word.
Some examples of where they added stuff:
Ex. 1
Komomura: Matte.
Translation: Wait.
BS transaltion: Wait. You don't have to get up. (Something like this, anyway)
Ex. 2
Tousen: *uncomprehensible grunt*
Translation: Most grunts in Japanese are ways of showing agreement, speech fillers, or sometimes disagreement (usually only used this way by men or "tough" girls). Given the circumstances, I would say that it was disagreement.
It was when Tousen (blind dude) was fighting Zaraki |
BS Translation: Something about justice that flash across the screne too quick to read--it was at least 7 words long.
I would say that they are adding things that are implied--either by the visual circumstances, or by what will happen later on in the story.
For example, if episode 51 did not really have the dialogue about Tousen being blind, it didn't matter as he made that fact quite clear in episode 53-54. Actually, it seemed like episode 53-54 was the best place to reveal that. |
