out of harm’s way. She’s a little impetuous, so it’s not unusual to find her at the edge!!!

Then I’ll grab:

As the series title implies, he carried this show on his capable shoulders through many seasons,
despite getting regularly planted face first into the ground…

And

4. Shi Seiran - Saiunkoku Monogatari

Ryuuki’s getting all of China…won’t the writers pleeeease give Seiran, Shūrei!

And now - I don’t know if I can help these guys but:

5. Sho Fukamachi - Guyver

It’s hard enough being a self-conscious teen without having an all powerful worldwide corporation
going after you, your family, your girl, your classmates…

6. Ryuuga Rai - Galaxy Warrior Rai

Can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs…but if he knew who would have to fall at the outset, would he still have chosen that recipe?

7. Deidara - Naruto

An incandescent meteor flashing across a very dark and gloomy sky…doesn’t last very long…but makes an indelible impression.

8. Hiei - Yuu Yuu Hakusho

Fiery and prickly…but at the core, really very lonely…

9. Sousuke Sagara - Full Metal Panic

So does being a child soldier make guys into the sweetest boyfriends???

Oh please no one freak out about this.

My comment was based off a tally not posted. So you can take my "updated" tally and figure out who's at risk if you wanted or you can wait and be "surprised" tomorrow.

Remember our goal is around 15 characters to be gracefully removed.

I don't know if anyone else here likes kickass, mature women, but if you do, please consider sparing one of your remaining votes for Balsa of Seirei no Moribito (Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit). Also consider giving the series a try--it's pretty darn good fantasy show. It has relatively high production values, is remniscent of Ghibli, and has a few absolutely amazing fight/action scenes.

I was personally thrilled to find a show with a (kickass!) thirty-year old main character in the sea of teenage (or younger) main characters that makes up most of Japanese animation. I believe the show is/was airing on Adult Swim, and the Media Blaster DVDs 1 and 2 are just being released this month.

Most people like Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece because he's cute. The merchandisers know it, and they milk him for all he's worth--I'd swear 99.9% of Chopper goods are of him in Brain Point form, sometimes as "Chopperman".

If you like characters for being cool, shouldn't they ooze cool? Zoro, Sanji, Luffy... They have their sleepy, hopeless flirt, and idiot moments, but in the end, their strenth is phenomenal and their opponents get beat down.

Chopper's not so strong... he's a doctor, he's the kid of the group, he can't lift thousands of pounds or redirect bullets or kick an enormous monster so that it flies far, far away. However, his brain power + shapeshifting is pretty appealing to me. Identifying weaknesses, three forms, seven forms, who knows how far he'll go, how far he'll be when he's mid 20's and beyond. He's an "ordinary" reindeer kid and doctor most of the time, so when his cool factor kicks in, the contrast really makes his character stand out.

P.S. Chopper says not to forget his buddies Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy.
