I agree. The series was very well done, but I was expecting it to remain more consistant at the end as to how it was in the beginning..Moop wrote:I hated the end of Chrno Crusade.
Or maybe that's just me.
Adorable and funny just don't segue smoothly into hopelessness, death and despair.

Zettai Shogeki Platonic Heart's Ending:
I had to post this here because this was one of the nuttiest anime endings that I've ever seen. I can't believe someone wrote a plot ending like this. It was so unbelievably crazy in it's plot twist. I was laughing and making all kinds of crazy faces while watching it.
I would like to say that this was one of the worst anime endings that I've ever seen, but it was so entertainingly violent, WTF and laughably vile that I don't think I can say that. Maybe Worst Anime Plot Twists might be a more appropriate category.
Well...it was memorable I'll give them that much. It felt like a cross between a VERY LONG erogame Very Bad Ending and a School Days WTF Bad Ending.

I am so glad that you find this amusing, unlikely to ever get anything.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Quite a few 80s/early 90s OAV mini-series ended in the middle of the story, which was always weird. RG Veda, Blue Sonnet and Dangaio all end this way- either it was intentional, or for whatever reason they decided not to make more episodes. Not the 'worst ending ever' but just disappointing. I don't think I've yet seen something where I hated the ending just that much, though...
I thought the ending for Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 was a bit weak, and it totally played up a certain problem I had with the series. Plus it just seemed like it arrived at that ending kind of in a weird way. Even though I really liked Priss and found the series fun to follow, I got annoyed at the way the other three characters were railroaded in the end.
As to the Ghost in the Shell movie, I LOVED that ending when I first saw it years ago and I still think it suits it. I like a good, sharply cut film too, and I think it had a nice punch to it at the end... The film Oshii made just before this one has a similar ending. That last parting gift to the audience that's intended to stay with you.
Also with regards to Lain, I wouldn't think that everyone who likes it is just liking it to be elitist. Sounds kind of unfair
. I thought it was over-hyped first time I saw it and wasn't as impressed, but later decided it depends what you're looking for out of it. The style is original, and the story examines identity dissolve in an interesting way. I don't love it as much as Boogiepop or other psychological anime, but I do think it's a valid series and artistic expression in its own right, and there's nothing wrong with being intrigued by it. Plus the opening song is nice
.
Lol, I admit that Akira had me nodding off too
. I do think I want to give it another try though as I'm not sure why it didn't work for me originally.
...Though the revelation of what really happened to Ceres in Ayashi no Ceres just bugged the hell out of me. Really nasty and twisted manipulation of my emotions, that. I don't think it was a bad ending though, just not the kind of story in the end that I was comfortable with. I was left feeling like I'd been slapped round the face and I didn't know how to feel about Mikage and Ceres as characters except that I was annoyed at both of them, in a slightly confused way. Perhaps that's good though, in a way it gets you out of the comfort zone. |
The team leaders' total emasculation by the end was a bit of a turn-off, but even moreso I felt frustrated for the way Linna's character, who had been the perspective character to begin with, got so thoroughly relegated to sitting on the sidelines at the end. |
