When you rent/purchase/view anime, how do you usually get it?

i checked "other" because usually i'll download a few episodes from kazaalite (no spy ware) and then watch them to see if i get into it...
I don't like watching them on my monitor, so i run them from my server to my laptop which is hooked up to my TV. from there i can tape them off to video tape if i want to...
i think right now i've got a hard drive full of shows i'm intending to watch but never seem to find the time for. :P
(by the way, wrong forum  )

I convert all of mine to VCD, I just batch encode them when I go to sleep, then when I wake up I burn them, if they are good quality then I can convery about 3 over an 8 hour period, but I do on occasion rent/buy dvds, but I never even look at vhs anymore, how annoying, fast forwarding to parts at a lowsy 2x speed when you can go 32 on dvd/vcd

Here is a thread that's been around for some time. :D

Right now I mainly watch anime through BitTornado, but for fun I decided to try to find out what I was doing in August 2002:

...and as far as I can tell (in August 2002) I was mostly watching through DirectConnect files. I had just gotten broadband a month earlier.

Other than that I was rewatching a few laserdiscs I had purchased from Mandarake's store closing sale. Around that time I also bought a few laserdiscs and tapes from Anime Jungle. The older anime I wasn't able to purchase from Anime Jungle I got from Yahoo Japan auctions. The tape and laserdisc shipping from Japan were the killer in both cases. :hurt:

Unfortunately I still had to "order" a couple anime CDs even in July 2002 because of DirectConnect's impracticality of use. :flushie

I rent and buy my Anime on DVDs. That's where it seems to be the best quality.

I use DVDs and Youtube primarily.

Youtube is a great way for me to find anime that I'm interested in that I can't find licensed in the US without having to worry about getting a corrupt file. I realize that I lose something on quality and it's frustrating when there's only a few episodes(or in the case of Naruto, the new episodes are being deleted due to Dattebayo's bizarre and useless policies), but, for me, the pros outweigh the cons.

What does frustrate me is when I spend some cash on the legitimate US releases and the video quality is inferior to what I can get from a 'bootleg'. Take my recent purchase of some Sailormoon subs. I had a couple of the Pioneer DVDs and while the video quality was ok, it was nothing to write home about. However, the company that I purchased my subs took a remastered Toei copy and made their sub from that original. The video quality on that bootleg far surpassed Pioneer's quality, and the cost, while not cheap, was much less than it would have been to have bought the licensed releases as new copies.

I watch most anime on cable...But i have more anime dvds, so i picked that. and i prefer dvds, because i love having physical boxes and cover art and a disc to carefully handle and what not.

I have watched very little streamed. Have downloaded some subbed anime, but not much.

I use BitTorrent to get fansubs, which I then transfer onto a CD to save space. For licensed anime, I buy DVDs at the store. The only anime I watch on TV is Inuyasha, and I have no way to rent or borrow from a friend.
