Because there haven't been enough of these threads lately. . . :P

So I'm curious to know what each of you think is the best anime opening. And while we're at it, the worst.

And I'm asking: opening as a stand alon peice of work, regardless of how it relates to the show. I'm sure y'all have seen a few that are totally misleading as to the shows content.

My vote:
Best
Champloo: The music and art just "work."
oh oh! I totally forgot FMA when I first typed this. But it's even with Champloo.

Worst
Evangelion: I like the show. This opening just did nothing for me. And I know there has to be some kind of time restriction on these things, but, for some reason, it just seemed insanely long.

Samurai Champloo! :) Naruto! Haibane Renmei! Hikaru no Go! :) And not to forget Cardcaptor Sakura! And also the crazy yet effective opening of Azumanga Daioh. ;)

I also like the Fruits Basket opening. :)

This is a really neat thread! Thanks kisara! :^^:

I don't know about my least favourite or worst. I have yet to see one that I would put in that category. The listed top ones are my favourites though. :)

Heh I've looked at a few openings in my timeImage

But for anime opening I have to agree with a lot of you that Samurai Champloo is an awesome opening

Elfen lied has some great artwork at the start.

and I really quite like the opening theme tune to Hunter X Hunter.

My two favorite openings are Azamanga Daioh and Card Captor Sakura 1st season. The opening for Sugar Snow Fairy is also very catchy. I still like the opening song for Rayearth "Yuzurenai Negai" as it fits the mood of the anime. It is best in original Japanese.

It's incredibly hard to remember all of the songs from all of the shows.

Lodoss Wars TV (so beautiful)
Elfen Lied. OMG gorgeous art and even more fabulous singing.
I'll take your word on Pretear, because the song is so wonderful. I've not seen the animation.

And at least one of the Naruto openings, which I thought was great. and do you think I can remember which? Ditto Card Captor Sakura and Inuyasha. Too many songs, and not all of them were wonderful, but at least one of each was.

Worst?

Lum. Cute the first time around and teeth-grindingly obnoxious every time thereafter.
The current Naruto opening. Major suckage.


Stuck-in-headness:

Beck! "I was made to hit in Americaaaaaa"
and the opening to Bleach. :-) (now let's talk about endings...)

Hmmmm...there's no such thing as a horrible opening...at least that I've seen...but the rest are pretty mediocre...
