I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem. I got a cel in the mail that wasnt in a normal cel bag. It was in like a hard plastic bag. Well the cel was stuck inside the bag and I had to get it out. While trying to get it out some paint specks came off the cel in a few places. I was wondering if someone knew how to fix a cel that has happen to. (I want to try and repaint the missing spots but i dont know. I suck at painting) Or if anyone knows anyone that could fix it for me.
Please let me know

ah, i hate those bags....
i have 2 cels that came like that and the the only thing i was able to do is keep them in those bags to avoid damaging the paint. Innocent of me i tried to remove one of the cels and noticed that a little bit of paint came off.... so it's a no no....
As for how to repair an already damaged cel..... dunno, i'm afraid....

Yeah..but mine wasnt that stuck, and all i did was lift the cel alittle bit and it came off the plastic, so I didnt really think there was a problem. There were just a few tiny spots that were stuck down more..and they came off..but once I saw what happen I was very mad/upset. The cel bag it was in..was even way to big..and the cel was in there turned halfway so it was crooked (I dont even know if it was a cel bag it was in)

Your best bet to repair that cel is to get it done by professionals. I would reccomend SR-Labs (srlabs.com) I have used them in the past for getting cels unstuck and they are very good. They usually deal with very high end Disney cels and have pretty neat techniquest (like quick freezing the cels and so forth) and they do rather stunning restoration work (like you can see on their website). BUT as you might imagine they arent cheap, a job like you describe would cost you probably around $100, or more, and they always have a *very* long waiting list (like a 6 moth wait). So do this if the cel is very very... umm.. very dear to you.
The alternative I can give is as follows, and this will take quite a bit of daring on your part. What you need to do is go to a specialist art shop, and what you are looking for is a thinner for the cel paint (which, if you need to expalin to the teller, is more like car paint rather then hobby paint, ie more corrosive, but in all honesty if the teller dosent have a clue as to what you are talking about find one that does). You would then need to dilute this thinner alot, and then proceed to apply it in very small amounts to the paint stuck on the cel bag (or if you dont have enought on the cel bag then the same coloured paint on the cel). Once you have applied a bit wait for it to start working, and then apply some more, continue this until the paint is fluid enought to put on a brush. Then just dab a brush in it and paint in the missing patches. If you dilluted the thinner enought then with time the paint will dry (you may have to keep it out of a cel bag lying somewhere with the paint up for a couple of days). This method will work best on missing patches of paint that are surrounded by the same coloured paint, it will be harder to actually paint contours and shapes (especially if you dont have any experiance in doing so). So like I said a rather daring way of doing it but definately cheaper then having it done professionaly. The people at the art store should be able to advise you as to the best suitable thinner. Actually this is the exact same method SR-Labs uses, except that they have a special solution they use instead of the thinner (which I am told they manufacture themselves).
Sorry for the long post, and I hope it was of some help. ^_^

Oh thanks for the help. Ill see what I can do. I myself wont do it. But ill talk it over with a friend of mine that is a grea painter and see if they think its a good idea or not. If not i guess ill beable to live with the cel the way it is. I just love the cel alot so I dont want anything else bad to happen to it..
