Is your 1st anime still your best...
I dont remember if there was a thread about this but if not then here it is.
How many people still consider their first loved anime the best one they have ever watched?...For example, my first loved anime i watched was dbz and up until this day, dbz (obviously) is still my favorite anime.

Not at all.
My first fully-consumed anime series was El Hazard in all of its various flavors. I loved and still love it -- to the point that I just (finally) purchased the DVD and am enjoying the snot out of Jinnai and the Bugrom all over again.
But Kenshin and Slayers quickly took first and second place on my all-time favorite list, and I would say that Hikaru no Go, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Samurai Champloo all outdo Slayers for absolute goodness. Only the Oh My Gosh I Love Zelgadis So Much factor keeps Slayers up near the top of my list. It would never fall below #10 even if it fell.
El Hazard is definitely in the top 20 somewhere, but not favorite.

My interests in anime have completely changed from when I first started regularly watching anime. I used to enjoy wacky anime comedies eight or nine years ago, but now I only like a select few. I think I've grown tired of seeing the same anime comedic jokes and cliches over the years.
Since I've talked about this before in a previous thread, I'll explain this in more detail this time.
At the end of my first year of regular anime watching (April 1997), these were my favorite anime (arranged in no particular order):
Armitage III
El Hazard 1st OVA
Escaflowne 1-8
Evangelion
Fushigi Yuugi 1-16
Macross Plus
Oh My Goddess
Patlabor 2 Movie
Ranma 1/2
Record of Lodoss War
Sukeban Deka
Tenchi Muyo First OVA
Tenchi Muyo in Love
Three and a half years later (September 2000) I had seen more anime so my favorite anime list mutated into this:
TV:
1. Maison Ikkoku
2. Rurouni Kenshin 1-78
3. Vision of Escaflowne (unedited version)
4. Cowboy Bebop
5. Evangelion 1-24
6. Saber Marionette J
7. Utena
8. His and Her Circumstances 1-16
9. Irresponsible Captain Tyler
10. Fushigi Yuugi
11. Macross TV
12. Violinist of Hamelyn
13. Yawara 1-18
14. Marmalade Boy
15. Hana Yori Dango
16. KOR
17. Ranma 1/2 through the third season
18. Outlaw Star
19. Vampire Princess Miyu
20. Haunted Junction
21. Nightwalker
22. Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran
Honorable Mentions: Touch, Trigun, Lain and Hyper Police
OVA:
1. Macross Plus
2. Please Save My Earth
3. Video Girl Ai
4. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
5. Mahou Tsukai Tai
6. Rurouni Kenshin First OVA
7. Oh My Goddess
8. El Hazard First OVA
9. Combustible Campus Guardress
10. 3X3 Eyes Second OVA
11. Record of Lodoss War
12. Blue Sub #6
13. Birdy the Mighty
14. DNA^2
14. Ranma 1/2 (OVAs overall)
16. Giant Robo
17. Shamanic Princess
18. Battle Angel
19. Fushigi Yuugi Second OVA
20. Tenchi Muyo First OVA
Honorable Mentions: MS Gundam 08th Team, Deliquent in Drag, Bakuretsu HUnter OVA, Gunbuster
Movies:
1. Macross: DYRL
2. Nausicaa
3. Tenchi Muyo in Love
4. Porco Rosso
5. Laputa: Castle in the Sky
6. Kiki's Delivery Service
7. Memories (Magnetic Rose)
8. Grave of the Fireflies
9. Who's Left Behind
10. X Movie
11. Mononoke Hime
12. Mime O Sumaseba
13. Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro
14. My Neighbor Totoro
15. I Can Hear the Sea
Honorable Mention: Roujin Z
But a quick check of my CURRENT favorite anime list shows a LOT of changes. My favorite anime movies are nearly identical, but my favorite TV series and OVA are almost completely different from before:
TV or Cable Series
1. Maison Ikkoku
2. Hana Yori Dango
3. Kanon (2002)
4. To Heart
5. Kakyuusei TV
6. Sentimental Journey
7. D.N.Angel
8. Sadamitsu the Destroyer
9. Wind ~ a Breath of Heart 16 episode TV series (not the 12 episode series)

2. Please Save My Earth
3. Doukyuusei
4. Refrain Blue
5. Koihime
6. SuikaOVA 2 (15+ ver)
7. ONE ~ True Stories (ONE 2nd OVA)
8. Kakyuusei Elf version OVA
9. Combustible Campus Guardress
10. Tokimeki Memorial
11. Doukyuusei Climax Files
12. Tenkousei
13. SuikaOVA 3 (General Audience version)
14. Campus
Movies
1. Macross: Do You Remember Love?
2. Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
3. Porco Rosso
4. Laputa: Castle in the Sky
5. Tenchi Muyo in Love
6. Kiki's Delivery Service
7. Memories (Magnetic Rose segment)
8. Grave of the Fireflies
9. X Movie
10. Mime O Sumaseba
11. Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro
My tastes have changed a lot in ten years as you can see. Unfortunately nearly all of my favorite TV and OVA are now NON-mainstream anime and few people have seen very many of them.
I have a favorite ADULT anime list too, but that's best left for another time and place.

The original Dragonball and Dragon Warrior (aka Dragon Quest: Abel Yuusha). As Majinuub stated, I also would get up at the crack of dawn just to watch those two series. I was so sad when they took them off TV.
I also loved the first Project A-ko movie. It reminds me of my high school years and hanging out with my best friend to locate anything anime related in our tiny town.

The EARLIEST anime I watched was Astroboy, Kimba, and Speed Racer. I was really introduced to anime as ANIME in the '90's with Toonami's showing of the Tenchi series & Outlaw Star. Now, since I have seen more, and more great anime comes out every year, my list of the best is something like this:
(In no particular order)
Haibane Renmei
Kino's Journey
Fantastic Children
Tenshi ni Narumon
Millennium Actress
Mushishi
Full Metal Alchemist
Gankutsuou
Nausiica
Other series I haven't finished but think very highly of and may end up on the list:
Noein, Monster, Princess Tutu
I also have loads of honerable mentions that are way too numerous to list!
The early anime I watched are all thought of with sentimental fondness, but I wouldn't classify thm as the best I have seen. Outlaw Star is in the Honerable mention list, though, and I haven't seen Astro Boy and Kimba for so long, I can't judge.
