Bleach airing in September?

Post by Nelia »

Watching Robot Chicken last night, I saw a commercial saying Bleach is airing in September on Adult Swim.

Good things-
+DVDs will be released
+A good anime will get some shine on cable

Bad things-
+It'll be dubbed

A penny for your thoughts?

Well.....It also means there'll be more competition for sketches!!! :bawl:

I dunno, I'm kind of ambivalent. I REALLY want to buy Bleach dvds but there are SO MANY episodes I'm sure they'll be outrageously expensive :l I'm also terribly afraid of what the dubs will be like, but so far CN seems to have gotten some really good dubs, so maybe they won't mangle Bleach too bad.... :hurt:

I'll reserve judgment..... :wink:

Please, please let them not rename Ichigo to "Irving" or something!!!

Or pronounce it "Itch-CHEE-go" or something equally horrific.

LMAO Yeah, I'm with Kay on the renaming thing. It really is the only thing that truly frightens me. (probably because I think it is the most likely thing to happen. I can hear the whole conversation in my head. . . "No-one will really get that Ichi means "One" and all those other syllable make-up a sentence! (hehe. no, I don't remember. :P) Let;s change his name to Stan!!" Besides, I've become accustomed to bad dubs and they'd really have to do a pretty horrific job to ruin Ichi for me. Does anyone know what studio is dubbing yet?

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the increase in competion/prices for sketches. :roll: X|

Other than that... I'm just kinda... meh. If I don't like the dub, I always have the option of not watching it. I'm not really worried about the characters being renamed either. If recent dubs are any indication, the companies seem to be good about not screwing with the names (well, other than 4Kids....) Now.. the VAs' ability to pronounce those names? That's a totally different matter. :P X|

Hopefully, Viz will do a good job on the subs. :^^:

Uh oh -
This just in -

Ichigo = 'Chris'

Renji = 'Ralph'

Things aren't looking good ...

j/k - sorry - I'm sure they'll do a good job. The one bummer could probably be (as in the case of Naruto) we lose the music. I loved Bleach's first opening. I have a feeling we won't see anything like it.

Since it's airing on Adult Swim, maybe we'll at least get to see the original endings. However, they show the opening for GitS so, who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and get those too. *crosses fingers* :D

Also...

I hope they don't use some of Viz's manga names. Sorry.. I don't want to hear Ichigo called "Strawberry" nor do I want Ken-chan to be called "Kenny". ^^;;

I just wanna know: What's going to be the "thing" they put with the boxed set!!!!???!!! :D
Blow up Ichigo?! /no1
Diecast Ichigo? could be cool
Ichigo tshirt? woot!!
....etc

Yeah, I was all excited until Joe took the wind out of my sails by saying "dub". :O :roll:
But, as long as the dvds come with the sub version, I'll be a happy camper. :D
I'll probably do just like I did Kenshin, buy it one dvd at a time.
I'll be looking forward to the dvd case artwork. Some of the Japanese ones have been really great!

And yeah, I'm getting anxious about the impending battles for artwork. :bawl
:wink: But I have to admit, I'm pretty darned happy with what I've already got. :wink:

i've grown to the point that i dont really watch as anymore. dont know why.

let's see, we have to worry about:

the name changes(luckily we dont have to worry about them changing the anime title). you know what i mean on that.

the va being able to pronounce the name. or actually sound decent in general. i say that because some animes both the sub and dub va's are great. then there's some animes where the sub va is great and the dub va is horrible.

the openings either being butchered like narutos, only one opening is being showed like in fma, or we might get the orignals.

now on endings, most of the time they stick with the original ending. the only case i've seen where they didnt keep the ending original was naruto.

Just a question...

Why do the dubbing companies mess up?

Shouldn't they do some research before investing so much money into something?

Still haven't started watching Bleach yet. :roll:

:topic Well, off topic of Bleach anyway. :wink:

kira, FMA aired 2 openings on CN. I just watched Monday night and saw OP4. So they aired OPs 2 & 4. I don't have a clue why though. :? And most anime endings I've seen air on tv here have their endings chopped or compressed for time. Just look at Cowboy Bebop. ICK! X| The song is going along but you can see the subs don't match at all.

RoboFlonne, I wouldn't say dubbing companies "mess up". I'm sure they do a lot of research before even buying the rights to the series. (Of course, I could be giving them more credit than they deserve.) In the case of Naruto, the OP was completely changed to drive in a younger viewing audience which is probably why it's in Toonami and not in AS.

I thought that Naruto was meant for all ages! The opening was already designed by the Japanese so that everyone would like it?

Why do they think that they know better than the japanese?

It just doesn't make sense!
