Trigun X

Pretty much anyone that cares about Trigun has probably heard rumours about Trigun X. If you haven't, supposedly it's a movie/OVA series coming out this spring or summer loosely based on events in Trigun Maximum. The project itself has been confirmed up and down, but the specifics of it are still undetermined. Considering that for quite some time the release date has been 'final' for Spring/Summer 2007, so I'm very much surprised to see no artwork or anything else popping up yet.

The Trigun messageboard 'Trinut' has a long, in-depth thread about Trigun X, but if you browse the board, be warned that NOBODY knows how to spoiler ANYTHING over there (in terms of the later manga issues, atleast). I just had the ending to #12 spoiled for me, and it's really ruined my day.

I was curious if any of ya'll have seen/heard anything more specific about Trigun X, or even seen some artwork. Since it's being produced by the same studio as the original Trigun anime, I've got my fingers crossed for some new cels to collect in the near future

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's 99.99% likely that it will be CG. No studio uses cels anymore.

I haven't kept up with the Trigun manga, mostly because I was pretty satisfied with the anime ending. Had it continued, I'm afraid that Vash and Merle would have actually gotten together! I'm not a big fan of Miss Strife.

It might be interesting to see a movie, though. Hmmmm . . .

I've been tempted to pick up the manga just to see if Wolfwood actually survives in it, since it seems to go on much longer than the anime did.

That's a shame about the cels. I figured since it was being done by the same studio they'd be using the same tecnique. Ah well.

The manga is excellent and thank god Meryl and Vash didn't hook up. I have no comment on Wolfwood though, you'd have to read for yourself (unless you really DO want it spoiled, in which case check out the Trigun Maximum thread in the manga section )

Can you tell one of my specialties is Escaflowne? The catgirl's name is Merle, pronounced the same way as Trigun's Meryl.

Yeah, it sucks about the cels. But take shows like Hunter x Hunter or Inuyasha for example. The HxH anime ended, and was continued in three OVAs by the same studio. The last two OVAs were done using CGI, since it was the cheaper way to go. Inuyasha is an even better example. They switched over half-way through the series.

It would be interesting to see if Sazae-san was still using cels. It's one of the longest-running anime series in Japan (still being broadcast, if I'm not mistaken) and a couple of years ago when kymaera went to Japan, they were still using cels (he showed me pictures of someone painting all the yellow in a sequence).

Nightow was at Sakura-con, and I asked him about it during the Genon panel. Basically he said that they are working on something, but it isn't officially announced, so act surprised when it is. ^^; At least that more or less confirms the rumor.

I wonder how they will do a Trigun X? They CAN'T use the story line from the original because they chopped it up and messed it up too much.

It is my hope for humanity and the future generations that they make it as close to the manga as possible. I want to see gritty turmoiled Vash whoop some ass!!!!!
