Jigoku Shoujo~Hell Girl...Very interesting

Post by eddiefb3 »

I dont know how many of you have seen this anime, or even heard of it. But its really interesting.

Its about a website you go to at the stroke of midnight, and at that time you enter in the persons name who you wish to seek revenge on.

After you submit you are visited by Hell Girl, and she gives you a straw doll, And when you pull the red string around the dolls neck. The person goes straight to Hell.

However, there is a cost. When you die, you will also go to hell. and there is no escape.

Want to try it yourself ;)

But like in the anime it only works at midnight, so that link will appear to be dead until then. And its Japanese time i believe.

I have been there, and i know it works(the website not the whole send someone to hell thing..lol)

So thought that might be fun hehehe

I would reccomend you watch it. Anyone else see it? or maybe own some(maybe want to sell some) production art?

So that would be 8 A.M. California time eh? I've heard about that website, but never actually tried it out. Normally I'm either working or asleep at 8 A.M. (unless there's an auction I need to attend to).

I think I watched the first six episodes of Jigoku Shoujo and it seemed a little repetitive to me at the time. Later I watched Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori 1-22 and I enjoyed the series much more after that.

It no longer feels repetitive and some of the relationships in those stories were truly warped. :puzzled Some of the stories gave me evil laughs while some of the others just made me feel cold and sad.

It's a fun series for me. :evil2

There are 2 parts to the series (2nd is called Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori), both are really dark. Because every epi revolves around someone who sends for Hell Girl, it can be repetitive. The producers try to overcome that with some creative ways to tell the story. My only complain is that there should be more humour :P The artwork is beautiful though, so far I can only recall settei being sold.

Both series end up with what are mostly one shot episodes, then having a last story arc that incorporates some of the characters from the one shot episodes. So, it can be a bit repetitive in the middle, but tends to be quite good in the last arc.

Not many people say both.

i know what you guys mean, i first started with the live drama.

I then watched the anime, but i ended up getting the second season first, and more ironic then that the episodes were messed up, so i ended up watching that final arc first.

But i did see a couple more of the eps, and they do seem to be one shot. It is very interesting...I didnt realize there were 2 seasons until after i started watching the second...oops...so i am going to start watching season 1 after 2, i dont think watching episodes out of order in this series will mess me up any way.

Kind of like Detective Conan, theres a different mystery every episode.

Interestingly enough, the manga for "Jigoku Shoujo" was originally featured in Nakayoshi monthly - a magazine which has brought out more bubbly, lighthearted tales such as CCS and Sailormoon.

In spite of the repetitiveness of the summoning of JS, the pulling of the string and the candle marking another soul that will be surrendered to the depths of hell upon the death of that person, I really enjoy this anime. I think it's novel in the fact that it does tackle some very deep issues and does an excellent job in portraying the human element.
