New Anime Season October/Nov 2007

Post by Keropi »

Everybody probably has their own source for anime info for upcoming seasons these days, but I completed this list for the October/November 2007 anime season last night:

This info comes from Moonphase, AnimeNfo, Anime News Network Encyclopedia, Pukiwiki, Anime News Service, Wikipedia and AnimeSuki Forum (mostly NeoSam's genre descriptions there (and Eggplant). I find shounen/shoujo/seinen/josei descriptions very helpful):

(I'm not including the talking doll show "Kawaii Jenny" or the little kids show "Pururun! Shizuku-chan", but they're coming out this season too. I doubt they'll get English fansubbed)

Scheduled dates are subject to change without notice.

Choco Mimi (TV series) - Airing October 1st, 2007 5:30PM:
Genre: Shoujo
(From Anime News Service): Konami Sonoda's 4 frame manga Choco Mimi (serialized in Ribbon) has its drama adaptation debuting on October 1st at 17:30 on TV Tokyo. The fashion comedy serialized from from June, 2003 - June 2006. The cast includes Teramoto Yukika, Masuyama Kayano, Tohko Miura and Kido Yuuya.

YouTube clip for the Da Capo II game OP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZsQsWx4ZVM
Genre: Shounen/Seinen, Comedy, Romance, Drama, Supernatural
(From Eggplant): Similar to its predecessor, the story takes place on the same island in Japan, Hatsunejima. It is set 53 years after the original game. The Asakura sisters are the granddaughters of Asakura Junichi and Asakura Nemu from the first Da Capo. It is unknown if Shirakawa Nanaka, Mizukoshi Maika, and Suginami are related to Shirakawa Kotori, the Mizukoshi sisters, and Suginami from the first game. Yoshino Sakura and Asakura Junichi are the only returning characters, and Asakura Nemu is the only other character to be mentioned by name. Yume, Nanaka, Minatsu, and Sakura's themes are remixes of themes from previous games.

I expect this to be mostly light, fluffy and silly like the two seasons of the first Da Capo anime series. I might like it though. Hopefully it's not TOO silly, light and fluffy for me. Might as well milk your popular franchise for as long as you can. :sweatdrop

What the...
I followed the link to the official site of Gundam 00, and it looks so... weird! The characters have such bizarre yet uninteresting designs, especially the women. And the names... Allelujah Haptism?? 8O The Gundams look really bulky and stiff, too.
Maybe I'm just biased because I love Gundam Wing so much. :P

Keropi,

I second your list. I have been waiting for Clannad, ef, and Prism Ark ever since seeing some of the artwork in Megami.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Okay...Prism Ark is disappointing a lot of people so far. It's nothing like I expected. Apparently it's not much like the game. The second episode was more like a fanservice slapstick comedy than anything else. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you should know what to expect before you start watching it. I wish I had known. :O

I'm enjoying Clannad, ef, Da Capo II, Bamboo Blade and Kaiji so far. I'm getting some kicks out of Ninomiya-kun and Kimikiss too. Kodomo no Jikan was heavily censored for its broadcast. Even what the characters said was cut out three times. I don't know if the series is worth broadcasting at this rate. :sweatdrop

I like KEY game male protagonist leads. They are somewhat smooth and sarcastic like the old ren'ai gaming leads from eight to ten years ago. Nowadays we usually get generic "nice" guy male leads that require less skill to write about.

So instead of getting "respectable" leads we get "likeable" ones. "Likeable" male leads are okay, but when 80-85 percent of them are of the same type then they begin to feel monotonous, bland and stereotypical.

For some reason this anime still doesn't appear to be listed on Moonphase. I decided to look it up since I seen the second episode floating around:

Yattokame Tanteidan ("The Appearance of The Old Lady Detective Group")(TV series) - Airing October 7th, 2007:
http://www.anime-yattokame.com/
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=8770
http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3764 ... tante.html
Genre: Mystery, Novel
(AnimeNfo:) -- This anime is based on a novel with the same title. The protagonist of the series is a 74-year-old woman who manages a dagashi-ya (cheep sweet shop) in Nagoya. She is popular among the neighbors, and they always ask her troubles.

I skimmed through the first episode, but the simplified artwork is not from the type of anime that I normally prefer to watch. :emb
