Ghost in the Shell Newbie

Post by minigt »

Ok, this may come across as pretty lame, but I have just purchased some Ghost in the Shell DVD's and really liked them. I just watched the two movies and the Solid State Society.

Rather than just going out and buying some more random GITS dvds, I thought I would put it out to the ever helpful Beta community, so I'm looking for some recommendations.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Im looking at getting Stand Alone Complex and the 2nd Gig Collection.

Thanks in advance...

I'm not sure I really understand your question. But if you liked the movies, then I would definitely recommend both series. Not sure whether you're aware or not, but the 2 movies and the series (which includes Solid State Society) should be treated as separate incarnations of the same characters. Also note that Solid State Society takes place 2 years after the end of the 2nd Gig series.

Have fun! And if you're interested in more cyberpunk, might I suggest you check out Ergo Proxy as well.

GITS just came out with another series which is a rehash of the 2ng Gig as well where they chop out a lot of the non central story line. It's called "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Laughing Man"

I love the GITS franchise, I was lucky enough to catch the original Manga Ghost in the shell series at a midnight matinee and also GITS: Innocense at a regular matinee.

Just watch all the Ghost in the shell media, they are all really great.

Might I recommend Armitage III for a cyber punk continuation as well? :D
