What other items do cel collectors collect?

Post by wormwood »

Hello

Just wondering what other cel collectors collect that non-cel related?
I myself collect anime figures, pencil boards, cd's, wall scrolls, godzilla figures and star wars figures. :D

I don't really collect certain "items". it is more of me collecting stuff from certain series. You can see my stuff at collectica.com. It is not really updated.. the only portion that is updated is the ANC section. I really like collecting Yuu Watase merchandise... not very much though from the Fushigi Yuugi series.

If you are talking anime-related items I also have a collection from various series of action figures, pins, playing cards, fastners, keychains, some trading cards, a few pencil boards, artbooks and enough wallscrolls and posters to cover my office at work .

*edit* I forgot to mention T-shirts which I live in outside the workplace.

If you had asked me about a year back I had a fairly extenisve (over 400 CD set) of original J-pop (not the knock off but the real deal thats like 30-40 each). Had to sell it for funds, but was nice.

On a not-anime-hobby I have always been passively collecting rare coins.

Most of my anime collection is InuYasha stuff: pencils, pens, pins, pencil boards, trading cards, stickers, plushies, and PVC figures. I have a few handmade IY notebooks that are really nice (now if I could only track down the person and see if they still make 'em!)

I don't collect much anime stuff other than production art. I do have a lot of anime DVDs, but I don't view them as a collection.

As for non-anime stuff, I collect mainly knives and swords. You can tell from the url of my gallery (itamejihada.net). Jihada refers to the grain in the metal of Japanese weapons. Itame is a type of jihada that has a whorled pattern - from alternating directions of folding the steel by the swordsmith. I tried to use Japanese terms in order to keep with the Japanese theme of anime production art.

I have been collecting blades for longer than production art, but have a lot fewer of them. Unlike cels, its nearly impossible to assess the quality of a blade without handling it. Internet purchases are far too unrealible and I do not have the time to do a lot of traveling.

Not sure if this is quite on topic, but I collect history. That is to say I love reading about it and I've always had an interest in it, but I've got back into it in a big way recently.

I set myself a lifetime task of reading about everything from ancient Greece to well the present day. So you could say I collect books about history...

As for anime the only other thing apart from cels is DVD's and the odd Manga/art collection.
