I can't vote since my option isn't there. Happy or Sad aside, I want something with a twist. I don't want to see it coming. Like my favorite, EoE - the End of Evangelion, I love something that leaves me thinking. Like FLCL or TMiL, it's a trip that doesn't end with the credits.

My second favorite is the underdog takes all variety. The Akagi, DBZ, Naruto type where after the hard path ends a righteous beat-down gets handed out. The Greeks may of had their comedy and tragedy, but they missed out on "Rambo" :P

Be interesting to see what others think.

I really agree... I like anime's with a thousand plot twists. If you like plot twists you should try Code Geass. You definitely wouldn't be able to guess all the twists in Code Geass.

I've always thought End of Evangelion was Bittersweet! Image
World is destroyed.... Shinji makes a decision to be a man and returns with his woman.... but starts crying... and calls for his mom.
P.S. OMG!!! Bittersweet wasn't in the choices!!!!!!!!! I remembered clearly to include Bittersweet!!! Why didn't bittersweet show up as a choice!!!!! Image

I generally like happy endings.

I don't think I would ever Want a sad ending.

Plot twists are what keep you guessing through out the series and hopefully they don't only show up at the end.

Usually I've always preferred story endings that have at least a little "bittersweet" in them. Those are the endings that are the most memorable and emotional for me. I like those endings the best.

Endings that are just flat out "happy" I tend to forget quickly. They are usually not memorable to me. The Happy Endings I like the least are the ones that completely erase everything that happened earlier. Maybe someone's declining health completely reversed without a satisfactory explanation. Maybe everyone got amnesia and forgot something dire. Maybe someone went back into time and erased all the bad stuff. Maybe the main two characters are back to arguing with each other exactly the same way as when the series began and that's supposed to be an "everything-is-back-to-normal happy ending".

Well I don't like "everything-is-back-to-normal-and-nothing-seems-to-have-changed" endings. Unless these series had other strong elements in them, I often end up feeling as if little was accomplished over the course of the series.

I like endings where one sad character waited a LONG time for something to occur and they finally get their wish. I like endings where some characters die and others live. Maybe "something" was lost, but the characters will rebuild their lives and be just fine. I like endings where characters self-sacrifice themselves for the greater good (possibly so that others can live).

Some of the anime endings I liked a lot were:

Ayakashi (the very last scene - the rest of the anime I didn't like too much X| )
El Hazard 1st OVA
Gunbuster
Kakyuusei TV series
Macross TV series
Maison Ikkoku
Midori no Hibi
ONE ~ True Stories (ONE 2nd OVA)
Suika ("Wet Summer Days" 2nd episode)
Xenosaga

I really don't have a preference so I didn't vote. As long as the ending isn't rushed, has managed to suspend disbelief and makes sense then I prefer it. That's probably why *cough* RK's ending never bothered me as much, however I'm peeved at PMK's ending and Getbackers ending... Still love them tho, after all there was what we call "emotional investment".

I like an ending that wraps up most everything (I don't want to be plagued with "Well, did so-and-so get together, or what?") and isn't depressing. In other words, it should be satisfyingly good :)

Signs point to yes. Ask Alison if it is.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Usually I like any ending.
I liked the R. Kenshin tv. ending...but I don't accept the OVA ending :x
But I did like the Cowboy bebop ending....Go figure...
So as long as the ending is not a WTF did just happen ending.....then I'm okay with it.....
I HIGHLY dislike endings where the guy does not end up with a girl, or a girl with a guy (if it's the type of series revolved around love triangles) Where it end with two choices. Honestly....-_-..
Or like said before, I like ending where stuff is warped up...or most stuff is explained....as long as it looks complete,...I'll like it ^_^

I like any kind of ending as long as it's really an ending. I mean, i don't like open endings that don't really end anything or that only want to keep you interested in the following season.

From series that i like, here you have them classified according to their ending:

Some endings that i like:
- Angel Links
- Figure 17
- Gunbuster
- Juuni Kokki
- Maison Ikokku
- Nadia, secret of the blue water
- Scraped Princess
- Stellvia

Some endings that i dislike:
- Berserk
- Gantz
- Noir

If I had to choose, I'll always go for the happy endings. However, it really depends on the anime and my mood. You couldn't get away with a happy ending in Grave of the Fireflies. :^^:

The only times I want a sad ending is when I want to cry. I remember after going to 2 back to back funnerals just wanting to cry and get all that built up emotion out. I just couldn't so I found a sad movie that always makes me cry. It worked. :)
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

I do prefer happy endings. :D I generally like it when tragedy and pretty much all the drama is settled before the end of the show. I kinda get upset and feel a bit cheated if it doesn't. X|

I like conclusive endings. There's enough misery in real life so I definitely prefer happy endings over sad ones. But I'll still watch as long as it's good. :^^:

I would prefer a happy ending, but I usually cry either which way anyways. :D
