Ok - so yeah, I tried

Post by Gonzai »

But I just can't do it anymore.

I have watched the first 8 episodes of Death Note, and I
just can't bring myself to watch anymore. I just disklike
Light so much that the anime is pissing me off. Animes
aren't suppose to piss you off are they??

Have any of you guys stopped watching an anime just because
you dislike a character?? I could never get started on Hitman
Reborn cause of Reborn, so I never made it past ep 1. With
Mar Heaven, I couldn't stand Babo, but beared with it and
about half way through, I didn't notice him anymore.

But with this, each episode pisses me off more and more,
so instead of throwing my laptop and totally destroying it,
I am going to save my sanity and just stop watching it. :?

Yup, have the same but more with graphics, especially androgenic designs of some kind of triangular long haired faces supposed to be "males" like in Rose of Versailles anime. If I dislike design, I simply can't watch over a few episodes.

LMAO!!!
:crackup :crackup
Nida you crack me up!
I take it you are leaning towards team L? lol!
:rollin :hitting: :rollin

I've SO been there wth some animes!
For me I had to drop Bleach and Fruits Basket for the same
reason as yourself-- I could not stand the main
characters' personality/motives.
They just kept pissin me off!
:bwall

I think the worst offender had to be Burst Angel.
OMG! How I just wanted to rip Meg's head off !
:moon
She was so useless, all she ever did was get herself
kidnapped over and over again. Ugh!
'roll
There were some instances I had to step away and do something
else before resorting to throwing the remote at the tv.
LOL!

For would have to be Shirou from "Fate Stay/Night" - feeling some -huey green- coming out thinking about him, just take him out of the complete series & I'll be happy re-watching the series where I never passed "I think Vol 1 or 2 - can't remember now". :evil2

Yes and Death Note was actually the biggest offender :^^:
I was the same I Rrrrrrreally didn't like Light, I even tried a second time when a friend told me how great it got when L became more prominant, but I couldn't really muster sympathy for any of the characters so I dropped it again :P
Inuyasha's another, though in this case I started out liking the series. Season 2 just started looking like so much of a repeat of season 1 that I didn't feel the need to continue. I like the cast, but because of the story I couldn't maintain interest :ZzZz: .

Yeah, those hero types annoy me more than they used to. Shirou didn't really bother me though. Suzaku Kururugi annoyed me more. That guy in Claymore annoyed me too (?Raki?)

I can't think of too many characters that bothered me so much that I stopped watching it because of them. Usually it was a combination of factors. The only character I can think of was was just about 100% because of her was Suzuka in Suzuka. Very annoying. When the anime is all about her there's no way I would be able to watch it all the way through. Just pick someone else man. Why go through all that difficulty? Are you a masochist? I could say the same thing about the Kimi no Iru Machi manga written by the same person. The mangaka just loves the male lead going after pain in the neck love interests.

These other characters highly contributed to me not wanting to watch any more of the anime:

Aishia in Da Capo SS
Marin in Brigadoon
Rizel in Rizelmine
Asami in Okusama wa Joshi Kousei

My apologies to anyone who enjoyed those characters. :D

Oh yes. I dislike weak/whiney/stupid females. I could barely tolerate Miaka in FY. The thing that kept me going was the fact that I found some of the other characters so entertaining. It took me multiple tries to get through Chobits because I could not stand the robot girl. I disliked her so much I can't even remember her name.

Lol! So many annoying characters out there.

But yeah, I really really hated Light, but I kept reading Death Note (actually never watched the anime...) because the story kept me interested.

And Hitman Reborn, actually the one that pisses me off the most is Tsuna and not Reborn. Lol! But I "watched" through the first 40 episodes of pain by actually using it as background noise (noise indeed) while I was working on other projects. (like scanning...) But once you get to the later arcs, it gets good. ^_^

So... maybe I have a higher than normal tolerance for annoying characters... ^^;

What are the dealers going to do if the series really sucks this bad? About a third of what was going for sale last weekend seemed to be from Death Note: books, t-shirts, laptop carriers, keychains, figurines, plushies.... And nary a Tsubasa or Kobato item to be found anywhere!

Where do sucky anime collectables go when the series dies? Is that what's filling that great oceanic loop in the Pacific that is allegedly half full of plastic anime figurines?

I stopped reading the manga after a few volumes because it became to depressing. I never even bothered with the anime.

But I do agree that I have encountered series which I quit watching due to aggravation. :D

I hate to confess it, but I stopped watching Inuyasha too. I started loosing interest after the Band of Seven showed up. Again, it was because of the story - it just started to become about which bad guys Inuyasha could destroy. I really liked the whole Kagome/Kikyo love triangle thing but in regards to it I felt like they would just throw me a bone every now and then. I love everything else about Inuyasha though. It just needed to be shorter.

I try to get use to those kinda chars, usually I'd just imagine thats the way they are designed, to be annoying! sometimes I even try to look for positive traits for this kinda chars but I don't drop series over a char since I care much more about the story.

I liked Death Note simply because, I liked Light. I loved how the series makes you hate him when really, he's a victim of his own ego. I really enjoy psychological anime, which probably also explains why I'm a total fan of Liar Game & Ikigami, though, Ikigami seems to be headed the way of 1984.

For me, the seiyuu probably decides if I'll watch the anime. If they have decent voices, I'll watch. If they're the ubber, high pitched squeeky voices that scream every five minutes, I won't. I couldn't get past the first episode of Pichi Pichi Pitch because Lucia's voice constantly grated my nerves.

Indecisive male characters bug me. Which is why I couldn't go past a few episodes of Macross Frontier. Pick the woman you want and stick with it.

Cutiebunny's comment about seiyuu reminded me
of another anime I couldn't get past--
Tenshi Narumon.
:flushie:
Love love love the artwork, cant STAND Noelle!
Especially her voice ! Ugh way too pitched for me :hurt:
Which is weird because I loved Utena- go fig!
I actually had to tell my girl friend to please take it out
of the dvd player LOL!

Looks like CB and I are the only gals on the team Light
as I totally adore his character too.
Plus he was such a cutie! :drool
Him and Ryuk are my absolute favs.
/no1
My only gripe w/ the DN series was how utterly disappointing the
ending was (never read the manga )

You knew from the start Light was to meet his demise
since Ryuk foreshadowed it in a speech before Light became 'kira'.
But what I was not expecting was how anti-climatic
the wrap up of the series was going to be. I was expecting more
drama and not Light reduced to a sniveling, groveling idiot begging
for his life once discovered by Nate and the others.

It was so pathetic and totally out of character for him.

I really thought he was going to make some long-winded
egocentric speech about why he did what he did and then jump
off a building thus becoming a martyr to the kira followers.
It would have been more his nature considering his personality.
