Too bad you don't have a Myanimelist account Shampoo then it would be easier to cross off what you've already seen.

Although if you did have one then it would cut down on the discussion in this thread. :)

Yeah, gonna jump on the bandwagon!!! Avatar the last Airbender was hands down the best thing I've watched in the past few years now.

Definitely don't watch the live action movie first, it completely missed all the subtle details that made the cartoon so excellent.

LOL!
:hitting: :hitting:
Its funny a couple peeps mentioned Avatar, I
*almost* went to go see the live-action movie assuming
it was a brief synopsis of the show on Nick and I nearly got
football tackled by my friend when he heard.
His reaction was :

"NOOOOOOES!! Dont see that P.O.S!! You gotta watch
the show its like OMGZ-UHMAZING!!!!"

For him to go that far, as a very polished film/tv/anime aficionado,
was pretty wild. 8O 8O 8O

So that is definitely on my queue

Its great to hear Lovely*Com is so cute and was fun to watch.
Stupid me thou, I didnt realized that the anime portion
wasnt licensed yet. Argh! But I'm going to go ahead
and watch the live action since its out on dvd.

Last Exile (my favorite series!)
Seirei no Moribito
Haibane Renmei
Soul Eater
Tekkon Kinkreet (my favorite movie)
I loved Moribito! I'm really really REALLY surprised
not more ppl have watched this one!!
O_O
The animation and character development was so good
and it was realistically treated (as well as you could in an
anime with some supernatural elements LOL)

Ok heres another one!

Wha about Toradora?
Its a lil predictable, just reading 1 sentence summary
on the back of the dvd and I already had a feeling
lil Miss Taiga would end up w/ the senppaku-eyed guy
but is the tension and situational stuff pretty funny/??
Is it like Kare Kano (w/o the crappy ending LOL)
???

Definitely don't go see the Airbender movie. Ever. It was worse than totally worthless. I loved the show so much, that I stalked the creators at comic con for two days and got some sketches on shikishi! Then I got back in line to get more sigs for both myself and one miss GK!

I LOVE Love*Com! :blob

The live action is a retelling of the first half of the story. There's a lot more that is in the anime and even more that comes afterwards in the manga. I own the live action DVD and all the manga. I also have the torrents for the anime on my computer if you wanna get a copy. I really want it liscened here so I can clear room on my computer and clutter my living room some more with pretty DVD covers. :D I'm addicted to that series because it's like the story of my life when I was Risa's age. She's a tall girl, who's fallen for a short guy. It's really obvious in the anime but not so much in the live action. I guess it's hard to find a tall Japanese girl. :nuts

Higurashi is really good too for a mystery/horror anime. I liked Umineko better but Higurashi is available on DVD and Umineko isn't . . . yet. But be warned, it might drive you crazy because the entire series isn't available yet. I think they only have the first season and there are 3. (Yes, I'm counting the OVA.) And Umineko's storyline has nothing to do with Higurashi so you can watch them in either order. There is an episode of Umineko that has Maria watching tv in the background. The tv has Higurashi on it. That's about all there is for a cross-over/reference between the two series.

Ouran Host Club is another funny one. Death Note, which I'm sure you've already seen some of if not all, would fit your suspense/horror catagory as well as Blood+ and Monster.

I couldn't get into Moribito but I didn't give it a good chance. I'll try it again later. But I do have Kimi ni Todoke on my computer as well just in case someone wants that care package. :^^:

animeobsessed wrote:Soul Eater (has 51 ep, not sure how many there are)
That's all. Soul Eater's production is very similar to FMA, in that the manga run (ran, in FMA's case now) in the same monthly magazine, were both animated by Studio Bones, and ran out of source material, leading to Bones creating an original ending for both stories. While not amazing, both endings were much better than the filler crap you tend to get with most other studios. I actually rather liked both endings (despite some complaints you'll hear for SE's) though I find the manga better.

The manga is still ongoing, though. Up to chapter 76, I believe? The chapters are close to 40 pages in comparison with the typical weekly manga (17-20), so it's longer than it sounds. Each chapter's enough material for a weekly anime episode.
