Spoilers of the ending. If you don't want to know - don't look!!
Well, now that its over, not sure what to think.
It was really one of the saddest endings.
Funny thing is, I never shed a tear. I think that
is because I expected it so much. I just didn't
like the way Kazuma died. I thought it was BS.
Actually, the last 5 episodes or so just seemed
so rushed to me. I wish I would have just let
it end after last season. Guess I was hoping for
more. Oh well!!
Let's see...so...22 episodes later and Chizuru gets 1 kiss(if the blood transfer scene can be called that...), a hug and 2 blood sucking sessions. Meh.
I am of the opinion that Hijikata survived the anime. I realize it's highly debatable. But, despite the fact that several hours have passed since the battle with Chikage, he's still fleshy toned. The anime had the habit of making the rasetsu turn pale quickly after death. Plus, unlike Sannan & Heisuke, he didn't turn into dust. My theory is that Chizuru gave him another of helping of oni blood.
I was really expecting more from the Chikage/Hijikata battle. At least half an episode dedicated to it. Maybe some clothes being cut apart.
But, yes, I totally agree that the last few episodes seemed rushed. Maybe my hopes were too high that the anime would come to a satisfying conclusion.
I read that they're going to do an Hakuouki OVA next? I don't know if that's true, but not quite sure what that would be about....
It might have recaps, I'm almost certain it will. What I'd like to see is them animate the little "alternate universe" comic strip they had on the artbooks. High school setting I think. Heh and Hijikata/Sannan are prof and I think the younger guys are students. But most probably it's not and is tied to the actual series.
I hear there is also an OVA but that's word of mouth. It might be the one about the game Reimeiroku (early story when Shinsengumi was known as Miburoshi). I don't think it will be on DVD but will be broadcasted instead.
I know you have seen episdoe 22, but I have I still have that episode left to watch. Maybe Kizu is talking about this episode. I all depends on where you get your dl's.

Very disappointing. I just finished episode #22. Feels like a waste of my time to have watched it all now.

Finally, was able to watch the last episode and like most who have commented I was disappointed with the ending as well as a lot of the second season from about the middle through to the end.
I got to a point where I would start to watch an episode and wonder who was going to die this time.
This storyline has probably saved me a lot of money in the long run.
