I'm really enjoying the new version. I was in tears this week with laughter after watching Hisoka's "SCHWING" and then Gon and Killua do it at the end.

I've been watching it. I like it so much more than the original. I haven't seen this past week's episode yet though. I was busy on Sunday when I usually watch it.
Not in english is it? I can't watch subbed animes.
I just last night sacrificed my GPA and finished off HxH (1999) in lieu of doing a problem set BUT IT ENDS INCONCLUSIVELY WTF?! Does anyone know if there is any more HxH in english? I can't find any of the OVAs dubbed?
ya Teggacat! Remember I met you on Ebay and you got me into that series? Am I the only one that wonders if Kurapika is actually a guy? I don't want to read the plot on wikipedia so I am still wondering. Got lots of effeminate features.

I also question whether Kurapika is male. It seems like the first TV series made his sex more questionable than this newer version.
I am not sure if the age of the series warrants spoiler protection or not. I seem to remember in the first series there were a couple more hints about this.
1) The way Kurapika reacts to seeing Leorio walking around their shared bedroom in the nude.
2) At one point a seated Kurapika clamps his legs together when it appears someone is staring at "his" crotch.
3) Both shows bring up the idea of questioning apparent gender during the tower test - though it occurs between two different characters.
I enjoyed the OVAs, but man were there a bunch of them. I like how they ended them although the original series didn't keep to the manga much. I think that's why I'm enjoying this new series. It cuts out the extras and gets right to it. I'm hoping they keep it going and end it the way the manga did. As for Kurapika, he's a he. Just a girlie looking he. I guess like poor Melody looks like an old man. I also enjoy the SD omake at the end of each episode. Just adorable. Last week's episode is what I had been waiting for. I was dying to see how they'd do the fight between Uvo and Kurapika. After comparing it to the original series I think I like the new version better. I went into it skeptical, but was pleasantly surprised.
