Japanese Summer Festival Anime Episodes

I'm trying to add to my list of Japanese summer festival, Tanabata (July 7th/in a few areas - Aug 7th) and Obon festival (Aug 13th-16th) anime episodes. Can anyone think of any besides the ones listed below? Any information would be most helpful.

Please include only episodes where the characters are ATTENDING a summer festival and not just PLANNING one. Fireworks alone don't count as "summer festival episodes" either (so Pia Carrot 2 episode 3 and Saber Marionette J TV episode 2 are out).

Hmm, I'll have to think of this one, my mind is currently on manga ^^;

I do know that Tenshi ni Narumon!/I'm going to be an angel, has an episode with Noelle in a yukata visiting a booth to buy stuff.

I also know a lot of series that don't have an episode but have hanken art that shows festival stuff.

Edit: It's been a while since I saw it, but Yawara! had an episode with everyone dressed in kimono... somewhere in the first season. That might have been for a different event.

Step 10-"The Thing at the End of the Tunnel"
At a festival with Yuusuke, Noelle buys a suspicious mechanical toy, Bunbun, from a mysterious merchant. Miruru disguised, of course! Miruru tells Noelle that if she can raise the Bunbun properly she can become an angel. Noelle begins the task of parenting Bunbun. However, Yuusuke is suspicious of Bunbun…. Although Bunbun acts innocent when Noelle is around, Bunbun's nature reveals itself to be more than a bit devilish.

Was it that the episode?

My knowledge of Japanese festivals is nonexistent, but I can tell you what happened in Steel Angel Kurumi and you can decide if it fits what you're looking for.

In episode 9 the characters watch a fireworks show. They see a poster advertising for the "Great Owari Fireworks Show." According to the translator's notes on the DVD, this is a real "festival" that is still held in Nagoya, but I don't know if it's the kind of festival you're talking about. The characters don't participate in any other festival activities, but they're trying to travel secretly so it's possible there were other things going on that they just didn't see.

Also, in DNA2 episode 3 there's some kind of festival. The characters walk past some booths but don't buy anything. Later some fireworks are heard in the background but not really seen.

Thanks for letting me know! I went and checked it. As far as I can tell, it's a summer festival, but Nakahito and Kurumi weren't able to actually attend the festival. They were only able to watch the fireworks from the balcony.

I went and added it to the list. Thanks! I don't know how I forgot about that one in DNA^2. I remember that seen quite well now that you've mentioned it. I guess it's been too long since I last seen it.

In the past year a lot of new members have arrived at Beta and a lot of new anime has come out too. I hope you guys don't mind me resurrecting this thread.

Does anyone have any leads to other Summer festival, Obon festival or Tanabata festival anime episodes that I could add to my list?

If your not sure exactly where they are and would like to just leave "hints" that would help as well.

Hmm... I recall a show where the two characters where in love, but didn't get to see much of each other during due to preparations for a summer festical, and the girl was angsting about it. It *may* have been Kare Kano? I'm not sure.

There's a summer festival shown in flash backs in Weiss Kreuz, I know. And there's one (I *think* there's one) in Peace Maker Kurogane.

There's a school festival in Kare Kano or were they planning one over the course of several episodes? But I don't think there were any summer festivals in it though.

There was almost certainly one in Peacemaker Kurogane, but I lost my notes as to which episode it was. I should have added it to my list as soon as I found out about it, but I waited instead.

xxxHOLIC has Watanuki making special food for Obon in ep. 11 and in ep. 13 he, Himaware, and Domeki go to a festival at a shrine.
