So...whatcha playing?

Post by kymaera »

Surprising that there's not already a thread on this.

What games have you been playing recently?

I've been on a bit of a gaming run lately due to illness that's had me laying
on the couch quite a bit.

I finished up .hack//Quarantine finally. The repetitious nature of the game
and its fights caused me to give it up for a while, but I finally finished it!

Then, I moved to Saga Frontier II which I got most of the way through before
losing interest. I've played this and the Unlimited Saga game for the PS2 and
came to the conclusion that the franchise has a lot of neat ideas...which work
horribly when it comes to actual game play.

I went all the way through Suikoden Tactics. I'm a big fan of strategy RPGs
and this one was pretty good. Its big defect is also its biggest strength:
there are lots of choices of team members. That's good if you like variety
but bad if you like keeping all your members strong. This one might get
some replay.

I just started Dragon Quest VIII the other day and am enjoying it so far.

I finally finished my Crescendo game last week (all characters). I usually don't like teacher-characters very much, but Kaori was pretty cool. The hidden character's story was a little like Mizuiro's, but at least they didn't back out at the end and do a "reset". I hate "resets" after experiencing a dramatic storyline. I feel like I got cheated somehow.

I tried re-installing "Kana ~ Imouto" last week, but the game plays upside-down for some odd reason. :puzzled :emb

I've been kind of busy lately so I've restricted my gameplay to Nintendo DS
titles. It's nice to be able to play on the go and what not. I just beat
Super Princess Peach but now I have to replay it to unlock all of the bonus
levels. I finally purchased Sigma Star Saga but haven't gotten a chance to
play it yet. I'm really looking forward to the Phoenix Wright sequel and
Cooking Mama's release as well.

World of Warcraft. I should never have started, and now I'm hooked. I just got my first character to level 40. Now I've got a horsie!! And I'm collecting non-combat pets just for fun. One of my friends got me a siamese from deadmines. It's so cute! It's an addictive game. I have to keep myself from playing for hours on end - I'm limiting myself to a couple of hours every couple of nights. Not going to spend my whole life in front of a computer!!

Speaking of MMORPGs, I used to play Phantasy Star Online religiously.
From the Dreamcast to the Gamecube, I couldn't stop or get enough. I
don't quite have the time anymore :l but hopefully I can get back into
that someday :)

The last game I played (with the exeption of Nintendogs) was DQ8. I've been meaning to start Radiata Stories but this darn computer keeps me glued to my seat. X|

The game I've been playing for a while and just beat two days ago (the campaign mode) is Heritage of Kings: The Settlers. Now someone told me there was two expansions to this game not released in the US but in Europe, so now I'm on the prowl trying to find these expansions.

Although, Heroes of Might and Magic V has come out not too long ago and I'm a total hog when it comes to HOMM. I even have the never released expansion The Final Chronicles. I love this title, but since 3DO went out of business and Ubisoft changed the engine (it's not strategy-based like the other HOMM), I'm not sure I'll be liking it as much, even though the graphics are totally killer. Actually I still need to beat HOMM IV LOL. :^^:

I haven't played a MMORPG since my days of playing MUDs. I had the desire
to play those beaten soundly out of me.
