No. We didn't receive votes from two participants. We sent emails to both of them, but we never heard back from them.
What happens to those pieces that didn't make it due to the votes never came in of the participants? Will the artwork be taken offline? Will you contact the people that voted for those or will you mention which ones were disqualified?
Maybe votes didn't make it or e-mails got lost in net. Maybe you can ask here or PM those two?
We'll have to wait for the vote counters to give us the results before we can say how this will be handled. There may not be any impact on the results at all. Can't say yet.
The rules were clear. If you submitted you had to vote in all of the regular categories plus any optional categories that you entered. No penalty was stated, but we believe that it would be fair to disqualify their entries.
We don't feel it would be fair to the participants who took the time to vote if we don't penalize those who didn't vote.

Just out of curiosity, can you please share with us how many people voted? In the past, the number of voters has been significantly higher than the number of entrants. I know that this information has been made available in previous A-B awards...

oh boy. thats really sad!
actually (just by my preliminary calculations… i still need to check with MK to see if im right), it was a VERY close race with some of them!
seriously, it was down to the last few voters that chose who (could have) won quite a few categories (cant remember them off the top of my head, sorry), but i was amazed how close some were.
Just so you guys arent in the dark, Me and MK are getting together tomorrow evening and going over our figures. So it hopefully wont be much longer before we can get the winners.

Well, they were rules, and this is fate that decided dices roll (close or not).
No penalty were decided, so as those arts submitters didn't follow rules, their artwork can simply be set as "out of competition" arts

Previous competitions have disqualified all submitted artwork from those who did not vote, regardless of whether or not that artwork won. Those that voted for that particular entry have their votes for that item nullified.
In some cases, the items that the non-voter participants submitted won awards, too.
hey guys!
tonight MK and i went over our calculations and the vast majority of them we were in sync with. We only have 8 categories we have to recalculate so we're doing good here.
I noticed someone asked how many votes we received this year, it was a whopping 65! This was quite a few more than I even knew were active on beta! Seems these awards draw the crowd Good luck to everyone who submitted and thanks for voting! As BD16 said we're going over the 8 categories we ran into odds with, we'll have results ready for Angelic-Lair in no time!
We just wanted to let everyone know that the presentation of the 2009 Anime Beta Awards will not take place tomorrow as originally planned.
Unfortunately, due to illness and a family emergency, the vote counting has not yet been completed. We are hopeful that the results will be in soon, though.
Once we have a better idea of when the winners will be annouced, we will let everyone here know.
It's too bad the forum didn't know about this earlier. I'm sure that you would have had a few volunteers to have helped you count out the votes. Granted, the volunteers might not have made the awards, but at least the winners could have been announced on the 27th.
We thank everyone who offered to help , but no worries , we have the winners now. Just give us a day or so to get the site updated. We prefer to wait until the awards are up to reveal the winners, so we ask that everyone be patient.
