I am listening to you. Humans are not always infallible.

Don't worry so much WC. Y'all are doing such an amazing job. I think it's awesome that so many people are interested in taking the beta awards. Each year has been done so nicely. I agree with ZS...there's a reason why admin/mods stay out of the awards. They are by the members for the members. We are obviously here to help out with anything that they need though.

I think folks misunderstand my point about the domain:

If you have never registered a domain name before and/or allowed one to expire, you wouldn't be aware that many registrars lock the domains once they are allowed to expire and require/ask larger sums of money to unlock them (even for a new registrant). This means 1 of 2 things has to happen for someone else to take the domain:

1. The original registrant has to continue to renew the domain and transfer it to its new owner (takes time, can be a pain in the rear depending on the registrar, and of course, site downtime is often involved).

2. The new registrant pays the grotesque fee to get the domain.

I commend Toni and all involved for their effort, never said I didn't. I'm just saying a lack of forethought seems evident here - but if no one really cares if anyone ever uses that domain again, no problem then. Or if you're all content to let WC and co. run the awards each year, no problem. (Let's hope they don't change their minds or don't find they don't have the time to do it each year) You may disregard the concern from here on, people! No need to beat a dead horse. Now please, folks, my back hurts already. :P

:rollin I wasn't even talking about the domain. Just the awards in general. :rollin Sorry ZS. I agree that domain shouldn't be bought. A also had issues when others were trying to make further shirts for beta when they didn't like the original design. Considering they don't own the site it was a hot issue. However this was obviously just a slip up so no harm done. I'm sure it won't happen again. I just want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves. :ghug:

So...I'm the only one that has problems loading this site? I tried loading the first category (Accessory), and it only got through 3 images (took almost 5 minutes) and then the page timed out. :( I know I have slower than molasses internet, but I can't be the only dial-up user having issues...

Short of me going to the library to look at the contest pages, does anyone have any suggestions about how to get the pages to load faster (or at all)?

What I've seen so far looks nice.......

Listen people, I don't think it is Toni's intent to hijack the Betaawards domain. I am sure she is more than willing to give access to anyone who wishes to do it next year. However, I think Toni should have the option to do it again. I can tell you, first hand, that this is not a task you take on lightly. Just because Toni has been very cordial and patient toward everyone does not mean she isn't getting a ton of grief on her end. She just hides it better than most. If she wants to go through this again next year, I am all for it.
I totally agree with you Blueheaven. For something that's supposed to be fun and enjoyable, it certainly is getting a bit testy. Can't we just once say, "hey, great idea!" and that's that? It seems everything must warrant a complaint one way or another. I'm not trying to start any feuds or anything, but honestly, just once I thought a thread like this would actually be positive, like it was earlier with comments and suggestions about late entries. No one claimed anything...WC stepped up to the plate and decided to host this year...no biggie, let's be happy we have it again this year, and thank previous hosts for doing what they did. It's a big challenge and doesn't deserve any more grief than what's starting to happen. WC shouldn't feel sad at all.

I totally appreciate what you've done WC. I just wish for once people will stop nitpicking every little thing. When you come home from a hard day's work and see this on the board, I just shake my head. Come on people, just once already! I know I'm a little irritated right now, but I've read the last few posts just now and makes me wonder, can we ever just not complain for once?

I'll leave it at that. Any comments can be PM'd to me. :)

I was concerned about the dial-up experience and I'm not sure why it's going so slowly. Almost none of the thumbnail images are over 100 kbs big and I've had no problems on my end but I don't use dial-up. It might be your connection? What browser do you use? I originally thought it might be increased traffic but I'm not sure. :O Any suggestions from anyone would be helpful at this point because I'm at a loss.

Stunning website!!!

WOW!!! :vict

I was wondering... Can I submit an extra cel?

Was it decided that entrants can submit extra cels? Because the new entrants can see what's been entered and those of us who has entered didn't know what's been entered...

I'm confusing myself... but can I enter more cels! Please let me know :vict

You need an insane avatar. That screenshot of Miya Miya is too tame.

Considering the size of the first three images combined (158 KB)...that's not much more than half a KB per second... I hope you can resolve the problem.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was going to quote you in response to RoboFlonne, but I couldn't find an official answer.

Robo's question also made me realize I did not emphatically say one way or the other. 8O Oops. :P
