Fortunnaly "animated" is a recurrent optionnal category.
You're quite welcome. Thank you to both Sensei and Yupa for their help. I'm glad to see it will remain a catagory. ^.^
sensei wrote:BTW, I have (with a few exceptions) imported animated gifs to RS from my Photobucket image storage account. If you include the html (which Photobucket helpfully writes for you) as the first line of your description, it will show up on the page almost exactly like it would if you'd successfully uploaded it to Rubberslug.
Ah... thank you for explaining that. I didn't realize that could be done, though it makes complete sense. I'm glad there's a way to solve this; I enjoy seeing everyone's wonderful animations every year.

No one is interested in using zerospace's site code? It seems rather silly over-looking using such an easy-to-use code, which allows for a high level of automation. Ever since she wrote it, the awards have run much smoother. I'm sure many of us have been around long enough to remember the "manual" site days. I just don't want to have another contest where lots of people 'volunteer' to help out, but when it comes down to the wire, no one shows up.

Sure, some people managed to find holes in Z's code and exploit it. But 99% of us aren't asshats. I just feel like we're ignoring a really useful bit of code, simply because one or two jerk-offs exploited it in the past. Screw 'em. Why should they get in the way of our fun?

I agree with Rei. I don't think you should just toss out the website because what happened during the previous contest. Fine, have a couple extra people on the committee for controls or double checking, but the ease of submitting, viewing and voting on Zerospace's website outweighs the possibility of a repeat performance. *which IMO was blown out of proportion.* This is suppose to be a fun contest with a graphic as the prize. Let's make it as easy as possible to conduct and not get too serious about it. :)

I concur with Rei & Animeobsessed; why not continue to use Zerospace's code? It is a nifty bit of coding, and as already pointed out, allows participants to easily submit their pieces, then view & finally vote on their preferred selections - while on the 'other' side providing the administrators with auto-mated processes. Why not utilise something that will ultimately make your role a little easier?

I elected to sit-out the sketch awards for this year, so I have no comments on what transpired, but to me the Anime-Beta awards are meant to represent a fun activity-based venture whereby even 'lurkers' such as myself get the chance to openly participate within the broader A-B community. Do not let a very small minority ruin it for the larger community, turning the awards into a more regimented, security-driven process. Seriously, there are no monetary prizes involved with this - just the satisfaction of sharing artwork with fellow members that they may not otherwise get to see & enjoy.

Not being insulting nor meaning to incur the wraith of the Iceman, but if Iceman is taking the lead on this, then maybe an on-line translator is required for some of Iceman's more unique sentences, to avoid possible future confusion:
to avoid any embryon of claim.
'Embryon', that one ahhh actually has me stumped Benoit? Beginning, starting, launching? In any case, thank-you for stepping forward & wanting to volunteer for getting the ball rolling, organizing & implementing this year's awards.

Indeed that's part of human being, as I'm part of previous edition design and backup solution, be sure that if there is any failure in the process I'll handle it by myself.

Thank you for your kind interest to reduce staff's pain, warmly appreciated.

Well basically the last event was problematic, so coming event requires a strong clean-up, a countermeasure, a non claimable voting, and as done for decades in any election manual processing and counting is part of any existing democracy. So let's the fun take place and do it this time using an oldy but improved RS gallery system to keep it fast running and not to postpone it again and again till December.

Would be harder yes, but then, more legitimated, and staff has workforce to process with up to 3 persons, that'll be efficient enough for controls.
Next year can be return to classic OS.

According to schedule, gallery now setted up with all catagories, design in progress.

Really I don’t care as long as we have an awards. Yes its sucks to use a more inconvenient system but can we really expect to use it forever? I also haven’t seen anybody quick to jump on the awards until now.. I’m grateful iceman57 is taking the time to keep it going. So however he’s going to do it is fine by me, and there are also future contests to use Zerospace's code like he said, or even improve it. That’s if anybody wants to take the time to bother with the awards in the future.

Yearly trophy design is about 2 hours worktime, customisation with names on trophies is about 3 hours (that I didn't do last time).
I'm then not that in panic about using some hours to read e-mail.

This year design theme would be "University/Sport" style.
Gimme a B, gimme a E, gimme a T, gimme a A, go BETA go... :bounce

This hasn't been mentioned again, so is this still a possibility? I just wanted to chime in that I think this is a bad idea. If the point is to reduce drama - I don't think this is the way to go about it. I think it would lead to more hurt feelings, bad enough if you lose in a category - but hey! Look at that! Nobody else voted for you! And if voter's names were attached with their votes - it's even worse. I know friends of mine have mentioned that if this is going to take place - they will not be entering or voting. I think as long as you have a few people checking votes, then there's no need to publish them.

Re Rubberslug: I assume entries in a category will be all on one page? If someone was on page 2 in "Female" I think they'd be at a severe disadvantage. Knowing from hits in my own gallery, a lot of people don't look past page 1. I think Rubberslug allows a max of 24 items on a page, I don't think categories ever get that high. Even the ever popular Male & Female.

Hopefully you don't have trouble uploading, I know some galleries have trouble getting Rubberslug to allow them to update. :)

That was more a thought if contest turn to a new mess, some kind of "last resort" option.
Thank you for your feedback.

I'm looking for records of "Most Voted" cel in previous events, but didn't find on previous sites. May someone be kind to help :)
Requiring all existing most voted winners' nicknames with attached year to make a special part on the gallery.

Then why did it take nearly TWO WEEKS to get the sketch award trophies from you this year? :?

Holidays in my family like a caveman without the internet and photoshop! (yeah that exists, that's mainly called "parents") :)
Rough design model was ready on (checking records) 2nd August 2011 10:45PM, customisation was done once I was back from vacation and got the names.
