Honestly in my defense I think anyone is allowed to change their mind about bidding on an auction.

I bid my maximum and thats why I ended up winning. It had nothing to do going against Kittens and I honestly can't believe some of you think so. Kittens is a sweetheart and we have talked before.

Anyone can love a series. Most of you don't even know me and the ones that do, that REALLY do, will tell you I love the hell out of Kenshin. Just because I don't have a lot of other cels from the show doesn't mean I wont appreciate it as much. That is being VERY judgmental.

All in all, Im just saying I can't believe the feedback I have gotten just because I won a cel I love. You all might think it is against Kittens but it has nothing to do with her. She is a sweetheart. Collecting should be a hobby not a competition.

Say what you will. I love the cel and even without the support of winning will continue to love it.

you would concede the auction to her. its like going to war after signing a treaty. I would have announced that i might be bidding if i was in your position.

no hard feelings from me, i just can see how it could have upset me if i was in kittens position.

despite all that, i sincerely wish you congratulations on the cel. You must have really wanted it to shell out that much.

ZB I really don't think you should have to defend yourself or your bid.

Congratulations on winning a fabulous cel.

Kittens you have my sympathy but that's the way the cel game is, whoever bids the most wins.

Birdie, under normal circumstances I would agree with you 100%. It's whoever has the deepest pockets and the best timing (and a good solid Internet connection

However, in this instance, Kittens was told that the field was clear, and proceeded to be quite open about her bidding, relying on that. In doing so she was demonstrating her trust in the rest of us who "really really love Kenshin" -- and that includes not only me but a bunch of people who didn't post -- but backed off the auction because of the particular cel it is.

It's not that Zombiebunny didn't have the right to change her mind. Of COURSE she does. I have no doubt whatsoever that she will treasure the cel and care for it in the same way that I care for, say, my Kenshin and Sanosuke cel from Seisshouen. It's obvious that she loves that cel and really wanted it.

But she should have said that she had changed her mind, instead of sandbagging Kittens and taking advantage of her trusting nature. That, to me, is just very low.

And that's why ZombieBunny has been getting negative feedback. Not because she won the cel but because she was exceptionally sneaky about it.

Well, I tend to agree with Birdie, in as much as ZB didn't
need to apologize about bidding. People are known to change
their minds, and ZB had every right to do so, and... she
didn't need to announce that she changed it.

Frankly, I would have loved to see Kittens win. It would
have looked wonderful in her gallery, but if I wanted the
cel, no matter how much I adore Kittens, I would have
went for it. I don't think someone should back off a cel for
anyone, if they really want it.

Kittens has a right to be upset. Anytime you lose something
you really really wanted, its upsetting. However, Kittens is
the only one who has the right to be upset. As for everyone
else, its really not your place to be sending ZB negative
feedback.

YOu all may be very surprised at how much this actually goes
on without your knowledge. I know a couple people who have
won absolutely fabulous cels - ones I would love to ogle in
their galleries, however, they hide them cause they don't want
to have people send them hate mail because of it. Its pretty
sad that collectors need to feel that way.

Its a hobby. You win some, you lose some. Get over it and
move on. There's more great cels out there to be had. As
Baakay said, "He who has the deepest pockets wins", I know,
cause I have been on the losing end of that battle many times,
and to the same person - who happens to be a wonderful friend
of mine. For as upset and as hurt I get at the time, I would
never let that stand in the way of my friendship with her, and
I would never expect others to be upset with her either. Sorry
guys, alls fair in love and cel collecting.

Congratulations ZB - I can't wait to see it in your gallery.

Kitten's, I am sorry you lost, but there will be other chances
in the future.

Everyone should pay attention to these words. Remember that just because "everyone else does it", that makes it acceptable. We should not try to give any unpleasant feedback to people to try to change things because some people are quite happy with how cut-throat it is now. Let's in fact, encourage such behavior by allowing only congratulations to be voiced so that they feel validated in using underhanded tactics in the future. That way, we're likely to make the hobby even more cut-throat and thus, oh so much more pleasant for all of us
