I was browsing the auctions and came across this: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/ ... ADubHIFKTA (non-translated: http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n73617601 )
As gorgeous as this is, the information states that it's one of 30 prints, signed by Toshihiro Kawamoto - not Watanabe. Is there something unique about Kawamoto, or this piece, to merit the price tag? Even as a very unique print, thoughts on the price? I don't recall even an amazing Bebop cel of Julia or Viscious from key scenes going for 2.5K. -Edit- I know Kawamoto's illustrations and designs for Bebop, I'm just surprised at the price.
Also, why is it we never can find OP cels from some shows? Take Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star. In all my time collecting, I don't think I've ever even SEEN OP cels from either shows. I've only seen two Gunsmith Cats opening cels. What's up with that?
Anyways. Thought I'd share. Hope everyone's having a great new year!
Cowboy Bebop Print price and OP cels, anyone?

I don't know. There are certainly some series that I would love to see OP/ED cels from, yet they don't seem to be available on the market, even though cels from the episodes are readily available. Utena comes to my mind for this...Nelia wrote:Also, why is it we never can find OP cels from some shows? Take Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star. OP and ED cels are usually the most sought after from a show. Add that to the fact there are not many available for ANY show then that's a combination for very rare and expensive art.
Because of the demand for OP cels from popular shows like CB and OS they were probably snapped up as soon as they appeared on the market (if they ever did at all.)
Both shows are around 25 episodes in length so there aren't many cels available and I know Outlaw Star cels are extremely hard to find.
I would be quite interested to see the prices any quality shots form the opening credits of either show would fetch but they would most likely be many thousands of $$$$.
They likely never left the hands of those who created them.

I collected from Fushigi Yuugi for several years before more than just a few OP cels began to finally show up. Now I think I've seen cels from every sequence of the OP... so even if there are not any out now from the show you want, stay patient. One day they may just flood the market unexpectantly.

Always looking for high-quality Tamahome, Tasuki or Boshi-twin cels!
I would LOVE to see some Outlaw Star OP art show up!
I would also love to see some Outlaw Star hankens, especially the one for the phone card I have, and that Hilda used on the cover of Vol. 6? Laserdisc cover! I could end my collecting career happy with those two images.
LOL, a girl can dream though.

I'm actually curious about this as well. I recently picked one up that is similar to this one except it's the cover of The Wind.Nelia wrote:I was browsing the auctions and came across this: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/ ... If I remember correctly, I found a reference at one time that the Outlaw Star ED cels were actually illustrations...I forget now who the artist was (getting old lol). It's a somewhat similar story for the ED Bebop scenes, except I think those may be harmony type...gah it's been a long time.
I too would love to see these OP's show up...and some from Noir while we're wishing
Unfortunately though, as was pointed out, the OP's are usually the most well known shots, and sort of encapsulate the series, so they end up either with folks who worked on the production, or in the vaults never to be seen by us folk
