9,090,694,000 yen. Which is over 98 million USD. 8O Someone was messing with him.

Let me get this straight . . . people were bidding on the right to give him a job? Is that what's going on?

I think he's saying that when he gets the job, he'll repay the winning amount minus commission fees. Interesting . . .

What the heck is ray=out?:

The only ray=out I know of is an anime and/or manga translator.

During one of my visits to my "Princess Tutu" trapline (empty as usual 99 weeks out of 100) I noticed that a Japanese flower hybridizer has created a pretty variation of Madagascar periwinkle aka Vinca rosea aka Catharanthus roseus, which the developer has named "Princess Tutu."

http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d108242599

Very pretty; and an even prettier variety in the same line also came up in the search, this one with a flower that opens up with a cute little twist. Unfortunately, the hybridizer gave it a name that sounds like it might better belong to one of those hentai doujinshi that include an explicitly carnal love relationship between Fakir and Ahiru.

Er ... ala Jay Leno, I'll let you read the label (identical in katakana and romanji) on the third photograph for yourself.

The ... um ... "show intimate affection to Princess Tutu" periwinkle plant having sold (430 yen), the focus now goes to this CCS cel, which at a 21,000 yen starting price must be something really good:

http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m78948909

I'm guessing Episode 66, the closing scene with Syaoran in the swings. But it would be nice if the digicam photo that goes with this auction were clear enough to see if it's got line fading....

Ditto for this item, starting at 29,000 yen, from the same seller:

http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d108645931

(I'm pretty sure this is from the Ep. 66 swing scene, dang my photographic CCS memory.)

Just a puzzlement: are Princess-Tutuphiles in Japan so well-heeled and fanatical that a complete set of the Japanese DVD First Edition (6 disks, the first one has been -- gasp! -- opened and played) would command an opening bid price of $1200 at the present exchange rate?

http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k129062615

Now I'm sorry I played all six of my DVDs. Maybe I could have gotten a tenth of that on eBay if I'd left it unviolated?

This sketch of Sakura looks odd:

That's what? About a 140 degree neck turn? I wish my neck were so flexible.

Yeah, the storyboard artists were often not too hot on their human anatomy. I've always been bemused by this storyboard sketch of Sakura holding the Card without a Name (aka "Heart" or "Love"). I've often tried holding my hand next to the screen to see if I can duplicate this position, but I either get a nasty cramp or realize that I'd need at least one extra finger on the right.
