Keep old pictures of cels which have popped up at Auction

I always enjoy seeing pictures of cels from my favorite series.
So I have a request....has anyone kept pictures of cels which have popped up for auction and not hit public galleries??

Looking for pics of these series if you'd like to share them:
Last Unicorn
Flight of Dragons
Hobbit
Return of the King
Dungeons and Dragons

This cel sold on Mangadarake in 2008 with the original BG.
Who knows where it went but its great to know its out there.

That's not the original matching background. That is actually the scene where the unicorns are backing away from the Red Bull down the beach, and are stepping back into the surf of the ocean.

Yep. The upsidedown background comes from when Molly first encounters the unicorn. I had some free time this afternoon so I snagged a couple of screen captures.

But what a great cel....I really enjoy looking at the pics which is why I saved them! If Im not mistaken, didnt you give me a few FOD pics in the past that you saved

For some reason I have always had a good memory for images and can usually go right to the spot where I saw them. I think this is also a big part of why I lean towards cels and backgrounds more than sketches. I can place a cel and/or background fairly fast (assuming I have seen the show) but I can't do the same with the pencils.

That comes in handy when you have to make a split second decision on thousands of dollars

I've been doing this for well over a year now but I've uploaded the images onto a public site. In some cases, I make notes as to how much the item sold for so, if I should see it again, I can evaluate whether the price is what the buyer paid or if it's too high.

I do that too. For the past 10 years I've kept a large binder full of print/outs of cels with notes on where, when, and how much they sold for, who originally sold them, etc. etc. That information comes in handy from time to time and it's interesting to track the rise and fall in price of sequence mates and of particular series.

Thats great....I had most of these saved. The one with the butterfly was on BWA sold for $366 with that fantastic original BG in 2007....I could kick myself for not buying it!!

I do the same but electronically. I try and make a pdf of the web page if its a really nice cel or else I just save the picture and put the price in the file name. If you save the pic from YJ it tells you the seller in the file name. and with ebay now hiding all the contact info...its nice to know where the cel is

I've got about several thousand photos saved. I'm not saving them like I used to, but I find them enjoyable to look at. They make good reference material. I'm unlikely to ever see them again and I have a bad memory. It's nice to confirm that I actually SEEN it and that it wasn't just a figment of my imagination.
