Fake AMG OP Cel?
Here's the item in question: http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g104321219
It doesn't look right to me and the sequence number listed doesn't make sense. All sequences I've seen are B sequences from this. Not A. Plus her outfit is wrong. The colors are funky. It just seems off to me. Am I wrong here? I have the End Cel from this sequence and they're nothing alike.

I've matched mine to the screencap.

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
According to picture, it seems to be labeled "B1" on bottom. As you noticed colors and details are way different, even the low compressed JPEG picture can't turn colors this way so looks like a deliberate way to hide production details. Find attached the Photoshop mix of yours and theirs:
Line of body are close matching but there are various missing details such as hearing, haircut or color differences.
What is apparently the most interesting is the missing pink shadow close to her eyes, because this small detail appears during the whole video sequence on each picture (controlled on video).
This Yahoo auction document sounds unfortunally to be a forgery copy based on your RS gallery picture as a concept model.

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
A possible second option: as graymouser observed recently, AIC used to require job applicants to paint a cel to show their workmanship, and the designs were drawn from AMG moments. My OVA Belldandy was evidently one of these, and perhaps this Urd is another. So while your cel is genuine enough, the odd "sequence number" and its odd position on the YJ cel might be a way of identifying the applicant.
It would seem odd for a forger using GK's gallery image as a model to put the new sequence number on the bottom rather than on the top where most collectors would expect it to be.
Overall, I agree that the auction is deceptive and that the item being represented as a genuine production cel clearly is not, and that YJ should take some action.

Extremely interesting, something like post-prod test cels / rilezu ?sensei wrote:A possible second option: as graymouser observed recently, AIC used to require job applicants to paint a cel to show their workmanship, and the designs were drawn from AMG moments. What is surprising is that they are on the market and not destroyed/archived as any kind of recruitment tests. YJ deserves a strong cleanup.

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
I should point out that I only read about that job interview explanation once many years ago so I would be hesitant to use it for every AMG cel that is questionable. It was only in reference to AMG-OVA for a limited number of sequences. I almost did not mention this explanation because it was so long ago, and I have not read about it since. Please take it with a grain of salt.
I am not at all familiar with the details of AMG -OVA, but I have also heard that there are a lot of fakes (popular show with expensive cels) as well as sequence do-overs made by the studio. I remember that when I first started collecting, AMG had a reputation for being particularly difficult to separate final production cels from other types of pre-production cels (and fakes).

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
Sorry if i say that but the cel looks ok for me.
You have to watch the OVA 1 episode to see the cel since there are small difference in the OP from OVA episode 2 and higher.
About the seller kotetumaru2000 she/he is not the owner just selling them for the owner.
If you think they sell fakes you have to stop buying cels/sketches from Curt as example.
He is buying the cels/sketches from the same person.
@GK the one you own is from episode 2 or higher.

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
Sounds definitively correct, maybe the YJ auction deserve to detail the source OVA to avoid potential claims.
OP #1
No hearing, no pink shadow as on YJ picture.
OP #2
Hearing and pink shadow.

That is great to see Gabe. It is so nice to see that we have so many people on beta that are familiar with all the little odd quirks that occur with each show.

Ok, but the owner is from the older generation they don't to that.iceman57 wrote:I meant about including the OVA number and screencapGabe wrote:@ iceman the description says OVA Edition it also says "no claim, no return".
kotetumaru2000 is only adding the text that comes from the owner.
Also kotetumaru2000 is doing at least 2 more jobs as only deputy for the owner so this person has other stuff to do as well.

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
Thanks for the added info, Gabe. I stand corrected. It's surprising that there are two OP cels that are so similar, but you make the case for this one being authentically "State One" and GK's being "State Two."

@ Sensei you're welcome.
It's surprising to see what a small difference can cause some stories.

Re: Fake AMG OP Cel?
Very intersting. Thanks for the info Gabe! I think what threw me was the fact that her outfit was so different. The hole in the middle of the outfit was missing on the YJ one and the colors seemed so washed out. I guess it makes sense to have 2 different sequences.
