I found this very unusual SELain
Just wondering-
Does anyone know about this custom looking Serial Experiments Doll?
Was it in production and lots made?
Or maybe a Limited Edition?

The lain doll was released as a special run for the japanese con comiket around 2000, that's the year, off the top of my head I can't remember specifics. They only made 3000 for the event, it was the precursor for the lain dolls that followed, this one Konaka (the script writer) had a hand in. The one in the green box has the card that says triangle staff, that was the group that produced lain. The reason why the other is priced so low is probably because its missing the box, like all collectibles, the box always matters. And the one in the box may go higher, if there is a bidding war...they can be fierce.

Wow. The one with its box ended for 61000 JPY, while the one without a box only ended for 3100 JPY. I guess the box is everything, with this particular doll...

*Edit- there is a another SELain rare doll w box and maybe in slightly better condition

The last time I remember this green box doll popping up was about 4-5 years ago, and even then it went for 41,000 yen. So I am not surprised it went even higher considering the release of the Japanese blu-ray last year.
