I am sooo guilty of buying from series I hven't seen, but in my defense, most of these series are simply not available! I would love to see Tonde Buurin, Bow Wow, Yat, Mon Colle Knights, Muka Muka, Kuro-chan etc... I had 80 cels of Cyber Team in Akihabara before it was released. I had 90+ cels of Tenshi ni Narumon before I finally got a fan sub from someone. ( I'm currently buying it on DVD too, though it may never be completely released.) I am also guilty of not buying DVD sets of series that have many episodes because I have to pay a lot to get the whole series, but I do hope to get them eventually. I am actually starting to pass up TnN cels (our largest collection) because I feel at 200+ cels & drawings I want other people to enjoy owning a part of the series as much as I do. Do we have to have seen and love a series to own and love the cels? My answer is no, of course not. Since most people feel they have to, though, I have been able to buy many really lovely cels for very little money. I bought many series in huge lots and paid as low as .33 a cel! My motto has been, if you see it, like it, can afford it, then buy it, research it, and if possible, find some of it to watch. In the case of the last one, sometimes that is just not possible. If I hadn't bought the cels we have when they were available, but waited until I found the series and watched it, I could never have bought so many cels that both my daughter and I enjoy.

*cough* have you tried Bittorrents? :P I don't know about any of the series you mentioned, but it's a great way to get un-released anime here in the US! :D

Its plain and simple here - if I liked it - I would buy it.
And, price doesn't matter - as long as I think the cel is
worth it. The big difference for me is this:

1. If I know nothing about a show, other then I like the
cel, I would be hard pressed to spend a lot of money on
it.

2. If someone else is bidding on something, then I will
usually back off - simply because they are probably bidding
on something that has some meaning for them.

3. If I really like the artwork, it will lead me to get the DVDs
to watch the series. Thus was the case with Juuni Kokki and
X. I have still never purchased X cels, but if the right Subaru
cel came along. :drool

4. Finally, I have regret not getting something because I know
nothing about the series. I let a great cel of Kuroro from Hunter
x Hunter go because I had not watched the series at all.

I so regret it now, because I am watching HxH and absolutely love
it.

So, there really is no right or wrong answer here. I guess, if you
like something, there is no reason not to purchase it because you
have never seen the series, but if someone else really wants it,
maybe you should let it go and look for another sometime in the
future.

Unfortunately, none of the series I mentioned are available on bit torrents, at least they are not on the list at anime Suki. There are not as many torrents available for older series, and there are even less for kids shows. Since I started collecting with my daughter (who was 9 when we started), I made a special effort to find interesting cels from series made for children. Our largest collections are Yat Anshin, Tonde Buurin, Mon Colle Knights, Cho-Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru, & Cyber Team in Akihabara. Of those, only the last 2 are available on DVD and Wataru is a Hong Kong Copy. We thought we would never see Akihabara, so we are happywhen it was finally released.

Hear Hear!! Pass it along. if anyone knows of a torrent site for MCK let us know. I've seen ONE episode of it when it was on one of the TV stations ... the English dub was horribly, horribly retarded (at least that's what I thought, although maybe it's the show!!) and I would kill to see it. I love my MCK cels. Especially the sheep. :)

Guilty /... if I like the character design, or it's from a series I'll think I'll enjoy in the future...I sometimes pick it up. I've done that with a couple series lately (Ayashi no Ceres, and HXH), do I feel guilty?....maybe a little, but overall no. One, I intend to look into both series, and two I didn't put up any real money to get any of them, so chance are....that fans aren't missing anything extraordinary. :sweatdrop

He has Kenshin??!! 8O :OMG :puzzled

Last time I checked, it was the Home of the Inhumanly Huge Breasts and Impossibly Cute Little Girls. Not a sword-bearing assassin in the bunch.

gosh I'd definitely help slay him if I thought I could get some more Kenshin out of it. :P

Edit: ok I take it back. We do have Ichigo from Bleach. And Gokudo does have his magical return-to-sender sword. :P

LMAO!!! I must have been mistaken about Kenshin *sigh*

Come on Baakay! You wouldn't slay him just for the fun of it? Just a liiiiiitle slaying? :D

Come on! Let's take him down! I have to find alternate Pica sources since Pudge joined the party. I could never afford to beat her in a head to head bidding war!!! :rollin

What would I bring Kittens? A chain perhaps!? :rollin

From the looks of things Kittens we definitely have to go out drinking together sometime!!! :P

*sniffs sadly*
Everyone's ganging up on me!

Here's the way that I see it going down:

Baakay trips over her mop, cracking her skull open. On her way to the
ground, she bumps into Kittens who is startled and drops the katana on her
foot, slicing it off. Lynxa slips in the blood of their collective blood and
somehow ends up hanging herself with the chain. I'll come home and see
their bodies on my front doorstep and be overwhelmed by the tragedy of
the situation: this is a big damn mess I'll have to clean up before my home
owner's association starts sending me hatemail.

Oh, and my house is a Kenshin-free zone except for...oh wait...Baakay
doesn't get to know that for a lil bit longer. :D

And on the sword-wielding assassins, Kenshin is just a Ran - wannabe
:crazy
