Anyhow, I just had to post again to say to you, Zag, that I'm very sorry you have gotten negative and/or weird feedback on your collection. And, although I don't know any of the specifics behind what happened, I am very sorry if any of the bad emails you've received stemmed from the fact that others feel you don't know enough about your series to collect from them.
I agree with you: At the end of the day, it is really no one's business what you collect, and whether or not you know anything about the shows. Personally, I don't think you have to know everything about a show in order to love the cels from it. I think you can take any kind of artwork, whether it is Monet's "Water Lilies" or a cel from "X" series, on its own merits and love it for its beauty. And, I think that kind of love can be just as strong and just as valid as the love of someone who knows everything about the show. I don't think you have to be the carrier of all knowledge on a show in order to be a "true fan" of its artwork. And, keep in mind that I'm a person who posted earlier, saying I do not collect things from shows I've not seen and with which I am not familiar. I realize that my own strange collecting habits only work for me. They only apply to me, and I would be a fool to hold anyone else up to my own ideas and standards.
I can only speak for my own intentions in posting my thoughts early on in the thread. When I said I only collect from shows with which I'm familiar, I did not mean to imply that anyone not doing likewise is a "bad fan" or a "bad collector". I was only stating my own, personal opinion. And, in reading this thread, I didn't get the sense that anyone was implying anyone else is a "bad fan" or a "bad collector" based on collecting habits. I just think that people have very different opinions on the subject, and this had been a spirited, lively discussion on the topic --- which, personally, I think is great.
There's nothing wrong with having strong opinions, either.

As for collecting habits, I say more power to you, Zag! You should collect whatever you like and gather cels from the shows you like the best, whether you know anything about them or not. Life is too short to deprive yourself of the enjoyment of owning things you love just because others might not approve of it. I hope you continue to build your collection in the way you want, without feeling pressured by the opinions of people who send negative emails and feedback. I think your gallery is great, and has a wonderful spirit and exuberance, which is why I enjoy visiting it.
Anyhow, that's my two cents, for what it's worth ... which, like I've said before, is probably not a lot.
