Tell me where everybody is getting these animated avatars. I'd really like one.

Some specific location?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I've only used a couple of animated avatars here, but I saved about three dozen animated avatars from Anime Suki Fan Creation Forum threads located here:

I'm sure there's an easier place to find them than there though.

Any that I've displayed on Beta have been of my own manufacture.
It's not too difficult to do once you've made a couple as the process becomes easier to remember.
To make simple ones (like the types I've attempted), first get screen captures of the frames you want to use. I'd advise up to 12 frames to keep that file size low. I use DowerDVD for this, the free utility that came with my DVD drive.
Edit the size of the captured images to something managable in Adobe Photoshop or similar art programme- approx 100 pixels by 75 pixels.
If the images are detailed, 'sharpen' them with an appropriate filter to make them stand out better. Save them as GIFs NOT JPGs.
Import these images into Image Ready (part of Photoshop) or use an Animated GIF editor. You can select a time delay for each frame or have them play from one frame to the next without any pause.
Save the final image and you're done!
OK, that was a VERY basic description but I don't want to go one and BORE you to death. I'm sure there are some online tutorials.
Failing that NSP, let me know what you're looking for and I'll try to make one to your specifications- as long as I have the images/DVDs to get the captures

Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

Failure is guaranteed. My photoshop skills are equivalent to Kidpix 1995.Krafty wrote:Failing that NSP, let me know what you're looking for and I'll try to make one to your specifications- as long as I have the images/DVDs to get the captures
Photoshop is a wonderful and mysterious creature to me.

I was hopping for an online gallery or somewhat.
I don't know exactly what I want. I'll think about it.
