Enough about me, let's talk about my dress.
The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Okay, awesome! I wanted to check around to see just in case. That's $20 less than I have to spend... ^^ Although, I do like the red mem card.... lol Thanks for your help!lys wrote:I do not think the memory cards check to see what system they are on. As Luna and Rekka have said, my US card will hold Japanese game data. Lik-Sang.com, one of the larger imported games dealers (who also deal to Japanese customers), do not mention having to use different memory cards for different parts of the world.

I'll check, but if my memory serves me correct you can't use a US Formatted Memory Card on a Japanese PS2. At least for the first gen PS2 machines. I'll go and check tonight, but think it shows up as saying unreadable format or something like that then asks you if you want to format the bugga. The physical memory card works in both, but the formatting is where you might get caught. I'll verify tonight though.
I've had to buy 2 memory cards for my PS2(J) since I fried the first memory card that came with it. One for the games and one for the DVD drivers.

Popped my US formatted Memory Card into my PS2(J) and played Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. Saved the file, and it worked just fine. Even read the files, so looks like you are in luck. I just noticed that some of the save files I downloaded from the Offical Playstation Magazine are in Japanese, so guess the save files from Japanese games might work on the US games. *shrugs* No idea...
Well long story short. You're in luck, and can save some money.
So which PS2 did you settle on? One of the newer sexy models or older big ones?

Oooh, thanks for checking for me, yoshito! I'm gonna get the new slim version. I like the white one...but I might be cheap and settle for the black one....or not. I haven't quite decided yet, especially when I'm off to Japan in a month or so. It might be more worth my while to hold off getting it sent here when I can just buy one over there myself. heehee Then again, I dunno if I'll have much game time once I have this job... I may have to send for the import now and finish Shadow Hearts before I have to leave... Ahhhh, such a dilemma!!! At least I don't have to worry about spending $20 on a new mem card... heehee THANK YOU!

Wonder if they rent games over there too. That would be great if you could rent it, play, and then just return it. =P I do know they sell used ones, so maybe by the time you get there they'll be some used copies.
No problem with the checking, was sorta curious myself. Just wary since mine is an old first gen PS2(J). When I was playing it, heard the old laser search noises from the drive. Also gave me a chance to play KH:FM and my Macross game. Given up on Tokimeki Memorial (sp?) 3, still freaky when they speak my name in the game. Just ordered Yoshinoya the game, so should be playing that soon. Hopefully...

I'm pretty sure you can rent games and cds and such from various places, the only one I am familiar with is Tsutaya. I usually buy the games that I really like though. I'll probably hold off buying a Japanese system until I get there now. I just got an email from my school and they want me to get a flight at the end of the month *_* I don't remember the flights being this expensive... they're all like $2,000. *gulp*

When I play games...
I have to like the story line.
I've played imports... and not understood a thing but pushed buttons.
It turns out that I would much rather understanding the storyline.
But have you thought of Modding your Ps2?
I think it's not that hard if you've done soldering before.
p.s. Anyone played Riviera for Gameboy Advanced?
It's pretty nice for a Gameboy game. EVEN HAS VOICES! Yes everytime your characters do a special move, THEY TALK!
