Holy Poo!! Bleach has been licenced!

I just read on ACS that VIZ has "secured from worldwide licensors, TV Tokyo Corporation and Shueisha Inc., the television, home video and merchandising rights to Shonen Jump's Bleach in the Americas, Europe and Oceania." 8O Cool!

It's going to be on Adult Swim Next Fall.

From Mediaweek.com
In a bid to bolster programming for its expanded animé block, which now includes three weeknight premieres at 12:30 a.m., Adult Swim has locked in two representatives of the genre with Eureka Seven (out April 15) and Bleach (out fall 2006). It also returns InuYasha to its Tuesday night slot.
(I want to check out Eureka 7 too, to see if I want to possibly buy it on DVD.)

I was just thinking I should add the link to the post as well, when you beat me to it Irmgaard! I am not surprised at the news. Bleach is more an Adult Swim title than Naruto, and I doubt they will do much, if any editing when it is shown. I just hope they sell the DVDs the way they are selling the Naruto ones, in 13 ep. chunks for the unedited ones.

Hey that's cool! I just started reading the Bleach manga and so far it's interesting enough for me to actually want to see the anime. It has an interesting plot to it, has someone read all the manga yet? I only have the first six volumes and I'm on number two right now.

I don't know what the concensus of collector opinion is, but IMHO the Japanese DVD releases are beautiful! I actually think I'm going to continue collecting them, despite the announcement. I'd love it if some US company could find a way to get those gorgeous cases like the Japanese versions have.
