Another Test

Post by JWR »

Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles. As we grow older, it's important that we keep mentally alert. The saying; "If you don't use it, you will lose it" also applies to the brain, so... Below is a very private way to gauge your loss or non-loss of intelligence

So, take the following test presented here and determine if you are losing it or are still "with it." The spaces below are so you don't see the answers until you have made your answer.

OK, relax, clear your mind and... begin. WELL MAYBE NOT THAT CLEAR!

1. What do you put in a toaster?

Answer: "bread." If you said "toast," then give up now and go do something else. Try not to hurt yourself. If you said, "bread," go t o Question 2.

2. Say "silk" five times. Now spell "silk." What do cows drink?

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said "milk," please do not attempt the next question. Your brain is obviously over stressed and may even overheat. It may be that you need to content yourself with reading something more appropriate such as Children's World. If you said water" then proceed to question 3.

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass. If you said "green bricks, " what the devil are you still doing here reading these questions?????
If you said "glass," then go on to Qu estion 4.

4. Without using a calculator - You are driving a bus from London to Toronto. In London,17 people get on the bus. In St. Thomas, six people get off the bus and nine people get on. In Woodstock, two people get off and four get on. In Guelph, 11 people get off and 16 people get on. In Kitchener, three people get off and five people get on. In Milton, six people get off and three get on . You then arrive at Toronto.
What was the name of the bus driver?

Answer: Oh, for crying out loud! Don't you remember your own name? It was YOU!!
"Like the wind crying endlessly through the universe, Time carries away the names and the deeds of conquerors and commoners alike. And all that we are, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment." Harlan Ellison

So...either there is now a bridge between London and Canada or there's a Toronto in England somewhere...cuz, if there isn't that's gonna be one LOOOONG bus ride!
(btw-- I actually got this one right. but cows drink milk, apparently. :D )

There is actually a city called London IN Canada. It's about 2 or 3 hrs from Toronto, and about 2 hrs north fromwhere I am. Past Stratford, for me, but I do think you go through Woodstock if you drive there from T.O.

Thanks, Cloud. :) Geography isn't my strong point, but I do have a general idea where London, ON. is. I used to know someone who went to the university there, it's called the "University of Western Ontario".

Now, I went to Wilfrid Laurier University, further south and closer to home, but they used to have t-shirts in the uni bookstore that said "Western? Isn't that an omelette?" There was (and is) a great rivelry between Laurier, U of Waterloo and Western, for some reason.

ooo! Does that mean my brain is only half overheated? Because I said "milk" (and INSTANTLY realized I'd been had... before I even read the answer).

And ha ha on whoever wrote the questions, because it didn't ask what a greenhouse was made of, it asked what a green house was made of. We're talking two things here.

Yeah I know, it's a joke... :P But I'm old and I have to defend my brainity.

And yes. London, Ontario is not far southwest from Toronto and northwest from Niagara Falls, NY. Around the corner of the lake, don't ya know.
