I was thinking over something today that I personally have very mixed feelings about. When a cel dealer updates and somebody buys a cel, some dealers leave up the cel image with a SOLD notice, and some take down the image completely. On the one hand, I like to see what cels are out there, especially for older or more rare series, but on the other hand if I see a cel I would've loved to get with a big SOLD notice, it can be somewhat depressing.
So, which one do you guys prefer? Leave it up or take it down?

i say keep it up...if the person sold it to someone that doesnt use RS or something else...the original seller might be able to get you in contact with the person who bought it....and if that person ever sells it may sell it to u.

Leave the images up for a matter of months on the condition that the price isn't included. Then they should be removed.
There are items I've bought from dealers still labelled as 'For Sale' but I bought them 2 years ago, that annoys me.
It's wise to keep the images up for a while, just so everyone can see what's been available and what's subsequently snapped up. I think a couple of months is plenty of time for people to pop by the site for a check up. I assume most people visit their favourite dealers sections every few weeks?

I say keep it up, I like to see what's been sold, even though I may pine over it a bit. Plus when looking at more obscure sellers you see the kind of shots that may come along if you watch for updates. There are some sites I've noticed that at one time had cels from a certain series, then when sold took that particular series section down altogether than later updated with more from that series. If collecting from that series, a buyer might not pay to much attention to that particular site if they come across it when it's no longer listed, and may miss something later.

I quite like seeing sold cels, though I do agree it can be a tease. It only botheres me when I buy a cel and the seller leaves it up with no "sold" sign on it. I keep thinking, if somebody else tries to buy it, they'll be disappointed
It also makes me worry when I next order from them because I can't help thinking "that cel may have been sold a year ago" and I get all on edge untill I hear from them. I don't like that.

i perfer when it's taken down. if it is up i don't mind if it has no price info and just says SOLD and then is taken down a few months later. it *really* annoys me when cels are either 1) sold but the status isn't updated for weeks/months or 2) sold and the price is still left up. there's almost nothing worse than seeing a cel you'd *really* like and for really cheap (in your opinion) and have sold next to the price.

I would also say keep it up as long as it says Sold and the Link to the website its been sold to is up if thats possible. There have been times when I have bought a cel and it was kept for sale for months which might make some people think that I do not own that cel that I just copied the image and put it in my gallery.
As most everyone else has stated, I say keep it up. I love to see what cels the seller had up, and as someone else mentioned, not all cels make it to RS galleries.
The biggest annoyance is when the seller doesn't mark the cel as 'sold' or when they leave the price up. Take the price down, mark it as sold and leave it there for a while is the option I like. Animegame.com is a great example...they are pretty good with keeping up with sold/on hold signs.

I've always wanted to know what's been put up for sale (in the anime I collect and for others I don't). It's just fun knowing.
As far as taking down sold cel/sketch pictures, it depends on the situation. If I just discovered the website and they had been selling for quite awhile before I got there, I'm glad the pictures are still there for me to see. On the other hand, if I've been looking at the same pics for 2-3 years then I'd prefer some or most of them be removed (but it doesn't matter much to me).
Sometimes I run across a sale page for an anime title that I have never seen cels/sketches from and wonder what those art pieces looked like.
EDIT:
I think if this were a regular anonymous voting poll you would find more collectors on the "take it down" side.

I forgot about the SOLD label, but that's very important to me as well.
There's nothing I hate more than buying a cel and the seller not properly
labeling it on their site. Or the ever dreaded heartbreak of placing an order
for a cel that was sold long ago
I've felt that sting a few times and it never
gets easier. Wish some sellers were more diligent with site maintenance.
