It makes me feel like such a heel to say it, but . . . no. Truth be told, I really don't think about that kind of stuff. Scatter-brained, I am. I have given stuff to people that I know, and some people have given cels to me.
Right now, I couldn't think of parting with any of my cels, even to sell them. Soooo . . . yeah. Heck, when I buy cel presents for friends, I've never shopped for them in a series that I collect from . . . or I'd be tempted to keep the present.
I give out freebies all the time so I certainly would have no issue giving away cels to a newbie if they'll enjoy it and I don't I figure why not I know I have a few things I couldn't sell in a million years so I'm just as happy to give them away.
Back in the day, I used to have numerous "freedie" cels that I should have certainly given away, instead of putting them through rigorous "experiments" to test how much abuse my more prized ones could withstand.
One of my more server regrets, but the theory still holds. Still, half the allure of collecting is the trill of the chase. If they just fell into our laps, how would we value them? I know my answer anyway...consult the section above on freebies...

I voted yes, certainly to family, friends and cute girls, I wouldn't have a problem giving a few cels to kick start their collection!
Like a lot of people said, it's a really nice feeling receiving those added bonuses and parcels...knowing that someone has gone that extra mile, just for you. So at the cost of a few low key cels, it's a small price to pay to pass the favour along.
I sure as hell would! At our garage sale last weekend I was giving away mangas to kids who likes anime but never tried anything other than prime time tv.
I would. I've given away a few cels to a couple of RS members a few times. The most recent one was some Da!Da!Da! cels to Tori because, as I intended to use the backgrounds they came with for other cels, I just couldn't have spare acetate lying around...without any love. What they chose to do with the cels, especially once they've been in the hobby for a while, is up to them. But at least they'll recall the kindness they received and, hopefully, do the same when another new collector comes along.
Besides, I've always wanted to be like that shady dude on the ABC afterschool specials who got the whole school addicted to whatever drug of the day he was peddling..."Hey kid, wanna smoke?" ^_^
Considering I am very new to cel collecting myself.. (a month..) Not sure if i would be willing to give anything away simply because at the momment i dont have much. Now give it a couple of years when my collections grows a ton then i wouldn't mind so much as to give a cel to a really good friend or something along those lines.

Actually yes. I've tried (or at least hinted) to give one away in the hopes of luring a friend into the hobby but the cost of collecting absolutely scares her.
only once did i receive a free and unexpected gift from a collector... and i am forever grateful. i wish i could *afford* to let go of things for free, and hope i will be able to return the favor someday.
No one has ever given me a "freebie" I've had to buy every single one in my collection.
If I knew somebody new to the hobby, I might give them one I don't really want, that they would probably be thrilled to have, simply because it's a cel.
