Just an idea to improve everybody's cel galleries...

My embedded videos do not play unless you click the play button on the screen. Watching is completely optional.

Exactly. When you use embedded files provided by Youtube or Photobucket,
they never automatically play or load. It's up to the visitor to click "play,"
then it loads. Doesn't cause dial-up users any problems at all.

Also, I host my own, so the video is always available to me. It also won't
load till the visitor clicks play.

I don't think it's bothering anybody as it doesn't start downloading the video unless you click "play" first !

All right, I am probably the only person it bothers. However, I am the most important person since it is my gallery. Call it an aesthetic preference. I prefer simple and sleek, and the YouTube videos are rather large (even if the play button isn't hit). I want my cels to be the first and main thing seen.

I have nothing against anyone else using them as embeds! It is not a bad idea; it just isn't for me. Besides, it would be boring if everyone's gallery did things only this way or only that way.

I personally would never use them, nor do I click on anyone else's when I come across them. It's just not something that's up my alley. Even just the empty screen makes it look cluttered to me. But that's just my preference.

In the end, it doesn't really matter what I think. I still love the galleries that have clips in them. I just don't watch them. I go on to look at the cels. That's all I'm really interested in, anyway.

Well, the very fact that almost everybody uses Rubberslug killed the diversity already... so I guess its too late already

Better no diversity than no galleries. I for one wouldn't have a gallery up if it weren't for RS. Heck, I had to learn to resize images before I put one up. I know there are a lot of galleries that would never see the light of internet day if RS didn't exist.

That being said, I do have a great deal of respect for anyone willing and able to host his/her gallery off RS.

Totally, I guess there's no pleasing everyone. I'm just glad there's an easy option to display your cels...Rubberslug has revolutionised the way we collect and display our collections...it's great there's a database of cels of who owns what.
