transmet: I love hiking and Calvin and Hobbes!!!!

You know what is funny, I see a trend nowadays that a lot of kids say...oh yeah I like hiking (especially prospective dates). Then you get to know them, and they NEVER go hiking!...uh DUH! It's like people say they like something to get your attention and make you THINK they are active...when in reality the beer belly tells all! LOL

I am so lucky to have an old school boyfriend who says he loves hiking etc and actually engages in those activities on a regular basis!

Survival of the Fittest has only short-term ramifications and is not the true Darwinian theory. The example proof of this is that 99% of all top predators are now extinct.

In the end, it is Survival of the Most Adaptable. Those who are unable to overcome nature's ever-changing pitfalls through constant improvisation are doomed to stagnation which will always eventually lead to extinction.

One of the things I think about when reading this is what Bill Maher said about our current values. Our values have become very feminized. Now, before I get flogged, this is not a generalization of women. But, anyone who has taken a sociology course knows that there are certain feminine and masculine archetypes.

"...a feminized culture is one where, as I said, sensitivity is esteemed greater than truth. I don't think that's a good thing. It's one where compassion is more important than common sense. Compassion is important, not more important than sense. It's one where children are elevated beyond just normal people. What happened to people, as opposed to everything for the children? It elevates family above the individual. I mean, I can't imagine Humphrey Bogart acting like he did in this day and age. He just wouldn't fit in."

On the whole, a generation of weak-minded and weak-bodied children are being raised. Kids are getting flu shots, anti-biotics, and pharmaceutical treatments for their ailments. Instead of helping a child elevate their ability to learn, we lower the standards of the tests.

Having children is great. However, it is NOT a miracle. As Bill Hicks said, it is no more a miracle than eating food and a turd coming out of your butt. Once we stop looking at childbirth as a miracle, maybe we'll stop looking at kids as being more important than people. Then maybe we'll treat them with more respect and help them become more independent and capable rather than trying to build their self-esteem by lowering the bar.

That's very interesting blueheaven! I have not quite thought of it in those terms. Thank you!

I have been learning a lot in my college courses about the ways history textbooks lie to children. About thanksgiving and how great columbus was for example. Instead of giving children different views of a history that has many facets, the government chooses to water down history to make US history sound rosey...I feel we should give our children more respect than this. We should believe in their intellectual capabilities rather than inhibit them with nonsense like, "well small children shouldn't hear about gruesome/negative stuff like that just yet."

Personally I see things as too easy. How in the Heck are we supposed to raise childern when Discipline is becoming harder and harder. Competition shaped most of us, we learned to try harder because we hated being called LOSER.

I don't know about feminized but this damn generation is being choked by politically correct crap. Let us be honest, We Killed the true North Americans and justified it by the thinking of the times. How can we avoid the truth knowing we are condemning our childern to the mistakes of the past?

So many countries are losing the edge because of how we are changing. Too many people who don't have or even work with childern telling everyone else the correct way to raise kids. How Many of the politicians actually raised their families or did they have TUTORS and other caretakers?

Sorry for the rant but the PC minded idiots piss me off. Too many kids are WEAK!! Mind BODY and their parents approve!!!! YE GODS we are DOOMED!!!
Most Bishies are eyecandy therefore they must all be attractive for the females. One Problem though Can we have MORE LEGAL eyecandy??

The carbon content of one T-rex is equivalent to that in about 460 gallons of gasoline.
