I have a very bad feeling that 2006 marks the end of anything major being released for Kenshin... The Kanzeban I pretty much classify as the signal to the end. It was a great end for the series, a game, a kanzeban and the new DVD collection. Yes there'll still probably character merchandise that will come out but I think it will be far and few in between.
I guess I'm just coming to terms with the fact that one of my favorite anime of all time has come to an end. And I can't quite help feeling a tad disappointed at Watsuki-sensei for not trying to go back into the series and keep insisting to do his "new stuff", his new style. Ah... and although I know my favorite guys in the series *cough* Shinsengumi will live on in other shows, movies, games and trust me they DO... I'll be honest and say that I've not found a series yet that portrays them in a more dignified manner. Watsuki was indeed a Shinsengumi fan you know. Ah.. I am having withdrawal symptoms I guess.
I think definitely Kenshin series is over and I do not think Watsuki will not revive Kenshin for good. I think it is sometimes good to have an end But I wish they publish another manga for special manga "Yahiko no sakabattou" and another on (I forgot a title ) in Kaden.
I really liked Seisouhen so I think this was a good ending....
But I do not like new watsuki manga I do not like too much art style and stories as well....
Yes it's true... I'd rather see an end than if it were to get dragged (which it did at certain times). I think Yahiko no Sakabattou and that other one are too short to be published. Shounen jump the english version did have the Yahiko story but I can't remember what issue.
For me, I like almost everything about Kenshin... Some would decide to separate the manga, TV, movie from the OVA's especially Seisouhen but I think the Kenshin franchise should be all inclusive and should be treated that way. Of course there's opposition to that... But I tend to love my series in their totality and unabridged form. LOL.
I'm not a big fan of the new work of Watsuki, that Busou Renkin. No offense to the fans of this show, but Watsuki fared better in historical romance. His artstyle though has changed a lot it seems and recently in the kanzeban editions he did some concept sketches of the characters and the one's I saw especially on Saitou and Sano, seemed to be very generic in style. Sano unmistakably reminds me of Ban's character design, while Saito I think can be any rough detective or journalist out there. Just my opinion of course. Still I will miss my favorite show...
Yeah I saw kanzenban when I was in Japan and yeah it is definitely different.....
I have read some of Busou Renkin (vol 1 and 2) and I got so tired of it (sorry for fans!!).
I wish eac hone of charactors had more deep stories, like RK.....
I think RK is still popular but I have not see so many goodies a while...
I can't deal with the novelization. Nope, can't do it. Is that what you're referring to?
I'm with you on Buso Renkin. I watched the first episode and half of the second before I decided it was just too much like a very very pale imitation of Kenshin -- and with a too-standard plot, too. Just way too "Shonen Jump" for me.
But Kenshin will never end, as far as I'm concerned. Not where it counts.
Yes?

Hello. I'm sorry all for the late reply. My friend and I have been following the kanzeban releases at http://www.j-rurouni.com/. There is information there but also if you go to this post in our website, there are scans of inside pages. Unfortunately you'll have to scroll down and go to the later threads to see them.
And yes RK will never end... XD I too buy doujinshi.
On another note I believe a new DVD set has just been released! It's 700 USD I think. I wish I could see what they included as extras... ^__^***

You will see a lot of this Heeheehee (my absolute fav is written by Yamaguchi row!!! His art style is the best!!!!! They are a bit expensive side but they are totally worth it!)
Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for all pictures inside and out Now I feel that I wish I bought them
But I am again going to Japan on Jan 18th so I might buy them when I go back
I do like the kanzeban. I guess I should clarify I didn't like the concept sketch as much, but the cover art/color art of kanzeban -is- wonderful.
Yep I know of Yamaguchi row. LOL. The past year it seems they are re-releasing some of the previous doujinshi and even came up with a doujin CD I think. Although I think you already know, Meijijaya (spelling?) has great art too. Worth checking out if you haven't yet. I wish people had a catalogue of all the RK doujinshi out there, all I know is the yaoi ones...

LOL Yeah I know Meijijaya as well I prefer Yamaguchi row through (just me )
I did not buy CD version but I think I have almost all Yamaguchi row now
Oh! Ehehehe I saw the other gallery too via infoseek I think. I was hoping to find many kenshin cels but ummm the japanese collectors seem to not like having their collection shown on line. I do not understand why not. But I guess it is their collection after all. But I thought that person you mentioned only had those cels... I should've known better.
LOL Yeah since he knows so well on Kenshin cels so I ask him sometimes if a cel is real or fake
There are many reason why some people do not show their cels but for me I wanna "show off" my cels
(He told me that so many people took images of his cels and he got very annoyed.... So for now he took off his images fron his gallery POOOOOOOOOOOOO )
Oh for crying out loud! Here I sit within touching distance of a store-front poster of the cover art for the first one. I had no idea.
And I love it.
Hang on a sec... (well, no YOU don't have to... verbal tic to myself while I pull up my storage bin...)
Sorry for the doll-spam but I don't have a picture of it minus the dolls.
Well darn I wish I could read Japanese.
And kittens... you need to convince your friend to sell some of those cels to us poor Kenshin-afflicted people over here. (yeah, right! )
