Need help with error message

I'm trying to access a website and keep getting this message?
FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it!

What does that mean? Is it something that I need to fix? Is it the host's issue?

You are running a Mac OS I take it? Is it a high security FTP website?
