I thought this link was pretty cool. Especially if you are looking to move to Japan any time soon. :D

Ooo, thanks! Forwarded that link on to a friend of mine who had to return to SoCal because she couldn't afford medical insurance in japan.
Maybe she can go back!

Rant time!
Well, now I know why we've been having a rash of unmarried, knocked-up Japanese girls who are pregnant with a Nigerian's kid land in San Francisco with the hope of dropping off their kid using public welfare so that the child will be a United States citizen. It's too bad no one at the port of San Francisco has gotten it through their minds that letting these women return on their own recognizance is akin to letting them enter the US for three months on the visa waiver program anyways. I fail to see why Japan makes it so that Japanese citizenship can only be derived from the father and not the mother. Remind me what century I'm living in again?
/ end rant

I read recently that Japan was in the process of increasing their foriegn born population to 5% from its current 3% level. Hopefully, the Japanese will handle this better than what most first world countries have done...otherwise, preserving their culture and heritage will prove to be difficult in the coming decades.
