Mission Accomplished!!

All it takes is a subtle "Hey...check this out". If I had known that from the beginning, my task would have been so much easier.

I finally got my husband hopelessly addicted to Bleach. I started from the beginning last week. I don't know why. I just felt the urge. He was moderately interested by Episode 5. But it was not until Episode 18, when Urahara really kicked it up a notch, that he could not turn his eyes from the TV. It was great. Truly great!

Now, we are up to Episode 72. I had actually stopped watching around this time. It was not really the fillers...just that my interests changed for a bit. But now, I can watch the episodes new with Aaron. He was really wanted the first CD. Done. Now, he wants some shirts. I'm on a hunt!!

But in honor of this monumental accomplishment, I am changing my avatar. For now, it is Yoruichi - my husbands favorite character

Good for him, Jenn! But he'll have to get in line for Yoruichi. I saw her first.

Which reminds me: I stopped at the fillers. I need to get back on the post-filler bandwagon again.

So maybe I missed this somewhere but why is it called Bleach?

I'm glad you got your husband interested. It's always fun to watch with others, especially those you care about.

Hope you weren't looking for a deep meaning to the name "Bleach," but it's called Bleach due to Ichigo's hair, which is how it would look if an Asian bleached their black hair. I forget where I read that, but Ichigo makes a similar comment in the flashback episode where he meets Chad.

Yep...it's the same as Juuni Kokki. People around her keep thinking that she has bleached her hair because of the brilliant red color.

i also read somewhere that Kubo Tite had a fondness for the Nirvana album
of the same title. i read it on the internet, so it must be true

Hey! I read the same thing (or something similar) on the internet! Does that make it doubly true?

Seriously, though, I do remember reading about some connection to music and the title, but I think it was in an issue of Shonen Jump. Sadly, my sister recently got rid of all her issues, so I can't be sure. *shrug*

Considering the number of musical references Kubo Tite put into the characters' profiles in the manga, it wouldn't surprise me if there actually was a connection there.

Nope! I wasn't looking for a deeper meaning. I was just curious since I wasn't making the connection. I must have just breezed past that part in the story. No Ishida so I wasn't as interested.
