Cel bag/ conservation supplies stores in NYC & London

Post by Cordelia »

Hi

My bf is travelling to these 2 cities next week. Does anyone know which stores he can pop in to buy cel bags and other conservation supplies like backing boards or acid-free interleaving paper or cotton gloves? Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

Hi Cordelia. I never really found a place that sells cel bags however there is an awesome 5 floor art store in NYC called Pearl Paint. My husband took me there once and I fell in love! Seems that they carry almost anything there! If your boyfriend decides to visit it then tell him to be prepared to walk those 5 flights of stairs cause it's an old building and there is no escalators or elevators. It may be possible that they carry cel bags or something like that now since it's been well over a year since I last visited that store. Here is the main site, hopefully it will give you directions or you could map quest it I guess: http://www.pearlpaint.com/

EDIT: I didn't realize how many store locations there were in NY so I asked my husband which location he took me too. Here it is:

Canal Street
308 Canal Street, New York
NY 10013
Phone: 212-431-7932
Store Hours:
Monday to Friday: 9 am to 7 pm
Saturday: 10 am to 6:30 pm
Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm

Canal Street is located through China Town. So your BF should have some fun when venturing to Pearl Paint. He could pick you up some souvenirs, lol! Such as a cute chinese dress. ;)

Thanks Sugarflower! Pearlpaint looks like a great store...will ask him to check this or Blick Art out :) Not sure if I wan him to buy clothes for me...his ladies fashion sense is kinda erratic and I doubt he can gauge my size accurately lol
