I VOTED!!! YAY!

How Do you know if someone uses another Anime Beta Name who doesn't even post anymore and pretends to be them to vote?

Like you could look through the member list and pick 50 names and pretend that they voted?

I probably overlooked a safety feature!!! /ok sorry

I personally know many people who do post and won't vote, and you know I could pretend to be one of them and vote... With a different IP and it would be hard to tell... I'm not going to do that... but Someone else may... /sob

I was wondering that myself. As much as I'd love to think that everyone who votes is going to be honest and use only their ID name, a few known individuals may try to ruin it by looking up names that were rarely used, or worse yet, use a current someone's ID as their own. Even though this is supposed to be a fun game, I can see someone being over-the-top anxious to win and stoop to that low level.

Anyone else have that thought or feeling? It occured to me when I entered my Beta ID.

How much is that?

Never crossed my mind actually. I suppose they could always email back and verify the votes... some places have a feature where they say 'your message of xyz' has been sent....

Some may places have a feature where they say 'your message of xyz' has been sent, but not all.

I'm actually very glad this question was asked because we've already caught one entrant cheating.

The vast majority of ballots submitted are from Beta usernames we'd all know and recognize. Yes, there are lurkers and people who don't post often, but you would still know their username if you saw it. So, for the most part, we're not experiencing any problems with the ballots.

All votes are being closely examined, so it was almost comical when someone thought we would not notice two identical ballots, submitted nearly at the same time, one from a recognized Beta account and another from an account that has never been used before. The chances of that kind of "coincidence" are so remote, it's insulting.

If we smell even the slightest hint of cheating, the suspect ballots will be disqualified.

Since your checking the ballets....does that mean if we make a mistake like miss a catagory (not sure if it's possable to submit and incomplete form) you would let us know? I had to check mine several time cause i noticed i missed 2 the frist time through....so easy to do and would hate to be disqualified for something like that. -Chris

Incomplete forms!!! Did I fill all of them? Oh no! How Do I check!!! How did you know, SilverDrago that you missed 2? I want to check too!!!

By doing it by e-mails then people would have to atleast open a new e-mail for each vote.

For this... You just have to type in names of people you know that aren't voting...

So far this is the best Anime Beta Awards Ever... But the voting system is really flawed. /sob

If you pmed votes... Then there wouldn't be any problems. Because that would be the way to know if you joined and if you are that person.

We could make a shared account for votes, and have 3 vote counters who all have access and can count and check them!

I'm only giving suggestions, but if your voting has major problems, then more people won't vote next year. The people who aren't voting and have pm'd me; told me that they aren't voting because they are discouraged from the problems like this one in old Beta Awards. /sob

You cannot submit an incomplete ballot, the script will not allow you. If you did, an error page would appear and tell you which categories were missing. So, don't worry, your votes were received safely.

There haven't been any problems yet - so let's just let this play out until there are actual problems.
I'm sure then they will be addressed. Have a little faith RF... it does go hand-in-hand w/ love. :vict :vict :vict :vict :vict :vict :vict :vict :vict

The problem with cheating is that for everyone you catch there are 5 who aren't caught... It's hard to catch them and only 1 person is needed to ruin everything... Maybe there are only 3 who aren't caught for everyone caught... But not everyone is "dumb" enough to get caught. There is actually people who say that you are dumb if it's easy to cheat... I don't say that I say cheaters should be punished. Out of Love for these awards I want it to be perfect. And it has been so far the BEST EVER!! EVER!!!

The problem with the internet is that I personally know of these problems happenning in the past where I knew just 1 or 2 people have opened like 300 accounts for other contests... and have ruined the whole thing. Now they don't even have to open accounts. They just need to type names! There doesn't even need to be 300 votes... 20 votes would rig this contest easy...

It would only take 1 person with a couple of hours of time to rig the votes. /sob

Why don't we just take this down a notch, okay?

I think you're over-emphasizing how many people actually really care about winning a trophy gif. :roll

Try clicking on the pictures, rather than on the numbers. ;)
Thanks for the tip. With the way my mind has been lately I wouldn't have thought of that. :P

I can't wait to see the voting results at the end of the month! Most of the categories truly were super hard just to one cel from.
